9. Vaijinath M. Gavarshetty appointed CEO of DHFL
The board of directors of Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Ltd (DHFL)
approved the appointment of Vaijinath M. Gavarshetty as the Chief Executive
Officer and key managerial personnel of the company with effect from October 1,
2019. He is a former Chief General Manager of State Bank of India.

Officer of Odisha
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has approved appointment of senior IAS
officer Sushil Kumar Lohani as chief Electoral Officer of Odisha. He is currently
serving as state excise secretary & will be replacing Surendra Kumar.
11. Oleksiy Honcharuk appointed youngest-ever Prime Minister of Ukraine
Oleksiy Honcharuk has been appointed new prime minister of Ukraine supported
by 290 out of 424 lawmakers. He was predominantly supported by President
Volodymyr Zelensky’s Servant of the People party faction, which consists of 254
lawmakers.
12. RBI appoints Jai Bhagwan Bhoria as administrator for PMC Bank
The RBI has superseded the Board of Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative Bank
Limited, Mumbai and appointed Jai Bhagwan Bhoria as the bank's administrator
with all powers of the board. The RBI's directives will remain in force for a period
of six months.

1. Former Indian cricketer Madhav Apte dies aged 86
Veteran cricketer Madhav Apte died after suffering a cardiac arrest at the age of
86. He was the first Indian opener to aggregate over 400 runs in a Test series. His
highest first-class score was 165 not out.
2. Congress leader Sukhdev Singh Libra passes away at 87
Congress leader and former MP Sukhdev Singh Libra passed away after a
prolonged illness,
He was 87. He was the member of the 14th and 15th Lok Sabhas. He was also a
Punjab MLA in 1985. He was a member of Rajya Sabha from 1998-2004.
3. Veteran Malayalam actor Sathar passes away at 67
Veteran Kerala actor Sathar passed away at the age of 67. He has acted in more
than 300 films including Tamil and Telugu films. He made his debut in the
Malayalam movie Bharyaye Aavashyamundu directed by M. Krishnan Nair in 1975.

Veteran Hindi & Marathi film-theatre actor Viju Khote passed away on due to
multiple organ failure. He was 77. The actor was most famous for playing the
dacoit Kalia in Sholay & Robert in Andaz Apna.
5. Kirti Chakra awardee Commander Noel Kelman passed away
Naval war hero and Kirti Chakra awardee, Commander Noel Kelman, passed away
at the age of 92 in Porvorim . He was awarded the Kirti Chakra for valour during
the liberation of Goa in 1961. He was involved in an operation to flush out the
Portuguese from the Anjadip Island.
6. Noted author Rizia Rahman dies at 80
The Ekushey Padak-winning novelist Rizia Rahman passed away at the age of 80.
She received the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1978. Born in Kolkata's
Bhabanipur in 1939, Rizia migrated to then East Bengal after the Partition with her
family.

News anchor Neelum Sharma, who was associated with India's public service
broadcaster Doordarshan News for over 20 years passed away. She was honoured
with Nari Shakti Puraskar by President Ram Nath Kovind earlier this year.

Eminent Punjabi writer and Sahitya Akademi winner Professor Niranjan Singh
Tasneem passed away. He was 91. He was awarded Punjab’s highest literary
honor – Punjabi Sahit Rattan – in 2015. He was awarded Sahitya Akademi award
for his novel ‘Gawache Arth’ (The Lost Meaning) in 1999.

2. Skill India, IBM to Train ITI Teachers In Artificial Intelligence
Ministry of Skill Development has signed an agreement with IBM where the latter
will carry out a nationwide Train-the-Trainer in Basic Artificial Intelligence Skills.
IBM aims to train 10,000 faculty members from ITIs across the country over a
period of 1 year.

ZestMoney has partnered with PayU to offer the convenience of the Cardless EMI

The study, by researchers from McGill University in Montreal, showed that a single
plastic teabag can release harmful particles into your cup —11.6 billion
microplastics and 3.1 billion nanoplastics.Microplastics are those plastics less than
5 mm in size.
