THE LABURNUM – Meera Uberoi

[SUMMARY]
Central Theme of the Poem:-
The Laburnum is an ordinary tree that stands alone in the corner of the
neighbourhood where the poet Meera Uberoi resides.

The tree looks rather unremarkable and ordinary. In fact, it is a very common
sight just like the cawing crows, but unlike the birds it stands quite and remains
unnoticed most of the time.

But as the summer months come, the very mundane and ordinary tree is
transformed into a dazzling, golden and spendid tree, covered with flowers of
sunshine. Even a small puff of breeze drops topaz coloured or gold petals on
passersby.

It is a sight to behold. Even the poor beggar cannot help but smile foregtting
momentarily his sorrows and delighting in the charming scene infront of him. The
view brings pleasure to all and sundry and it remains so as it cannot be bought
through monetary exchange.
