I. Objectives

a. To explain what a trade fair is

b. To explain what are the exhibit in the trade fair is all about

c. To explain how it will help in making our world a better place.

II. Introduction

Trade fair (trade show, trade exhibition, or expo) is an exhibition organized

so that companies in a specific industry can showcase and demonstrate their latest

products and services, meet with industry partners and customers, study activities

of rivals, and examine recent market trends and opportunities. In contrast to

consumer fairs, only some trade fairs are open to the public, while others can only

be attended by company representatives and members of the press, therefore

trade shows are classified as either "public" or "trade only".

On May 24, 2018, the ME149F class attended a trade fair exhibit held at the

SMX Convention center. It featured an exhibit and an Innovations Fair. The fair

showcased different projects that aim to promote sustainability energy in

Philippines. Many booths were presented that time, but what mostly caught my

attention was the booth of Solar Philippines.

III. Theory/Hypothesis

Solar energy is radiant light and heat from the Sun that is harnessed using a

range of ever-evolving technologies such as solar heating, photovoltaic, solar

thermal energy, solar architecture, molten salt power plants and artificial

photosynthesis.

It is an important source of renewable energy and its technologies are broadly

characterized as either passive solar or active solar depending on how they

capture and distribute solar energy or convert it into solar power. Active solar

techniques include the use of photovoltaic systems, concentrated solar power and

solar water heating to harness the energy. Passive solar techniques include

orienting a building to the Sun, selecting materials with favorable thermal mass

or light-dispersing properties, and designing spaces that naturally circulate air.

IV. Discussion
The potential solar energy that could be used by humans differs from the

amount of solar energy present near the surface of the planet because factors such

as geography, time variation, cloud cover, and the land available to humans limit

the amount of solar energy that we can acquire.

Geography affects solar energy potential because areas that are closer to

the equator have a greater amount of solar radiation. However, the use of

photovoltaic that can follow the position of the sun can significantly increase the
4
solar energy potential in areas that are farther from the equator.Time variation

effects the potential of solar energy because during the night time there is little

solar radiation on the surface of the Earth for solar panels to absorb. This limits

the amount of energy that solar panels can absorb in one day. Cloud cover can

affect the potential of solar panels because clouds block incoming light from the

sun and reduce the light available for solar cells.

In addition, land availability has a large effect on the available solar energy

because solar panels can only be set up on land that is otherwise unused and

suitable for solar panels. Roofs have been found to be a suitable place for solar

cells, as many people have discovered that they can collect energy directly from

their homes this way. Other areas that are suitable for solar cells are lands that are

not being used for businesses where solar plants can be established.

V. Conclusion

Globalization is upon us and people are now also developing. We should be

able to cope up with the development of the world. And with development, every

one of us should also be developing, no one should be left behind with the

development. We should all develop together as one country.

Solar Philippines is committed to sustainable development and renewable

energy, going deeper than the services we provide. With the impending threat of

5
price hikes and power shortages, we are here to help you reduce both your

electricity costs and your carbon footprint.

VI. Recommendation

As a recommendation, I would like to say that trade fairs like this should be

more done to be able to promote the projects of the students and to be able to

inspire future engineers in doing projects for ours environment .

I would also recommend that more projects or researches should be done that

would somehow benefit not only us, but also the world.
