ECO ESTILO DE VIDA: AN INTEGRATED ECO-CIVIC CENTER AND

ARTIFICIAL PARK
(THE SYNERGY OF COMMERCIAL AND WASTE RECYCLING FACILITIES IN
BATANGAS)

ABSTRACT

To further boost the collaborative efforts between the state and the
private sector in the fight against climate change, while enticing more locators,
this city in the province of Batangas is incentivizing and recognizing business
establishments for their environmental causes. This project makes for a case of
Civic Centers as venue for improving quality of life through enriching the locality’s
knowledge economy. A well thought-of Civic Center can host a variety of public
services, engage the community in place making and be utilized as an area for
meaningful and productive exchange. Engendering a knowledge-based economy
by creating libraries and non-formal educational and cultural opportunities, the
Civic Center can be a focal point in community governance. Through exposing
the community to a culture of learning, exchange and creativity, the Civic Center
fulfills its purpose of influencing how people think, which in the process enhances
their individual lives, and their contribution to the community. It has been said
that the green economy is the next big thing, and the new Batangas Civic Center
will meet the need for greener developments by employing a host of sustainable
strategies.

This proposal will feature solar panels and living roofs, reducing the city’s
carbon footprint by 2,225 tons. The proposal purposed is also to recycle the trash
and make it usable materials like building materials that will be used in designing
the artificial park and also can be a new product that can be useful. This solution
will be a big help to lessen the waste problem in the community and can be a
great example for the other places that have the same problem and this will be a
big help to reduce the need to grow, harvest or extract new raw materials from
the Earth.

New Batangas Civic Center seeks to create a typology in which a public

building in a modern urban environment is made to support the community, its
welfare, and liveability. The Civic Center seeks to redefine the sense and quality
of city living by creating a development model that benefits the public in which
they are located. It is also a better way to educate the world on sustainability
than by transforming that core to showcase how we can use water more
efficiently, promote food security, and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. To
think differently and act boldly is one of the missions of this proposal. And now,

the new Civic Center will stand as a global model for how to achieve a more
sustainable future.
