 1. Guidelines

Prices
All prices are quoted in SEK, FCA Uppsala, excluding VAT (applicable in Sweden only) and freight. Product
features, availability, pricing, and other terms and conditions are subject to change by IAR Systems without prior
notice.

Part number convention

To ensure a quick and correct handling of your order, please specify the correct part number on the item you
order.

In order to differentiate orders for Network License, Network license users, Upgrade orders, SUA orders and
orders that qualify for the School Discount, please add the following code after the part number:

-NW Network license

-NW-USR Additional user for Network License (please provide license number for additional users to
existing Network licenses)
-GRP Group license for IAR PowerPac
-SI Site license for IAR PowerPac
-UPG Upgrade of an existing license (please provide license number)
-SUA Support and Update Agreement (please provide license number)
-EDU Orders that fall under the terms of school discounts (please provide copy of the original order
from the university or other non-commercial organization)

How to order
Always specify the following:
Part number (for example, EWARM-LE-NW)
Number of licenses (for Stand Alone Licenses) or number of users (for Network Licenses)
Lock type (for example, DGL-PP or DGL-USB)
Original License number (for Additional Network users, SUA and Upgrade)
Delivery address and invoice address. End user information.

Delivery
From October 1 2009, IAR Embedded Workbench products are delivered in up-to-date packaging with new and
updated user documentation. An extensive set of guides in PDF format are offered. Printed copies can be
ordered separately.

2. Software licenses

IAR Embedded Workbench and visualSTATE

There are two kinds of licenses to choose between: the stand-alone license for a single user and the network
license for multiple users.

Stand alone license

When you order a stand-alone license for a single user, you have the choice to lock the license to either of:
- A hardware lock, which makes it easy to move the license between different computers and to avoid
difficulties in case of hardware failure. This is the solution we recommend.
- The hardware identies within the computer such as the hard disk ID and network card ID. This solution
is only recommended if a hardware lock is not applicable.

Network license
The network license is convenient and cost efficient for a team of developers. A complete product package is
delivered for each user and new users can be added to an existing network license.

visualSTATE
The Network license requires license server software that is included in the delivery. The network license for
visualSTATE can only be locked to the PC (server).

IAR Embedded workbench

The network license requires license server software that is included in the delivery. It is connected to a
hardware lock, which makes it easy to move the license to another server and to avoid difficulties in case of
hardware failure. Please note that there is a 30 minutes time lock after compiling or debugging.

IAR PowerPac
Sold as add on to IAR Embedded Workbench only.

For IAR PowerPac we currently have 4 types of licenses to offer.

Seat License
The leading principle for licensing IAR PowerPac is seat licensing, meaning that each user needs one IAR
PowerPac license per microcontroller architecture.

When you order a stand-alone license for a single user, you have the choice to lock the license to either of:
A hardware lock, which makes it easy to move the license between different computers and to avoid difficulties
in case of hardware failure. This is the solution we recommend and you may use the same hardware lock as for
your Embedded Workbench.
The hardware identies within the computer such as the hard disk ID and network card ID. This solution is only
recommended if a hardware lock is not applicable.

Network License
The network license is convenient for a team of developers. For the base edition of PowerPac a complete
product package is delivered for each user and new users can be added to an existing network license. For the
source edition of PowerPac a complete product package, including the source code, is delivered to the first
user. For each additional user to the same network a complete base edition of PowerPac product package is
delivered.

The network license requires license server software that is included in the delivery. It is connected to a
hardware lock which makes it easy to move the licenses to another server and to avoid difficulties in case of
hardware failure. You may use the same hardware lock as for your Embedded Workbench. Please note that
there is a 30 minutes time lock after linking.

The network license is currently only available for our PowerPac for ARM packages.

Group License
A group license is a multi-user license, and allows for up to 20 users to work with IAR PowerPac on a specific
site. The Group license includes the IAR PowerPac Source Edition. One complete PowerPac source package
and five complete PowerPac Base packages are delivered together with a 20 user network license. You may
purchase additional product boxes at an additional cost, see section Miscellaneous for prices.

Site License
A site license is a multi-user license, and allows for an unlimited number of users to use IAR PowerPac on a
specified site. The Site license includes the IAR PowerPac Source edition.

 3. Support and Update

Support and Update Agreement (SUA)

Most of our software packages are sold with one-year of free updates and prioritized technical support, please
see product packages information for details. After that period, a Support and Update Agreement (SUA) can be
purchased on a one-year basis. The following is included in the SUA: One year of free updates. Normally, one
or two update releases of the product become available every year. This will ensure that a SUA customer
always has the latest version of a product. One year of free prioritized technical support. Normal support
response time is within 24 hours, e.g. the next working day with reservation for local national holidays.

In general we do not provide technical support for customers without valid SUA. However, we are of course
interested in bug reports regarding our current version products independent of the customer’s SUA status. For
LMS problems, such as broken dongle or lost license, please refer IAR Systems policy on lost license.

Support and Update Agreement must be purchased as a prolongation of an existing SUA. The SUA will
automatically start at the expiration date of the old SUA and may therefore be purchased before the expiration
date without any loss of SUA time.

The price for a 12 month period of Support and Update Agreement is 20% of the product’s current price.

4. Upgrades

Upgrade of old IAR Embedded Workbench or visualSTATE license

Upgrade Discounts are applicable when upgrading an old IAR Embedded Workbench or visualSTATE license,
which is no longer covered by a valid SUA, to the latest version.

Note that one year of SUA is included when upgrading a license according to above.
The Upgrade Discount is not applicable for the Baseline products (except EWARM-BL & EWAVR32-BL).

Edition upgrade
You may also upgrade your IAR Embedded Workbench license to a higher edition, i.e. from Baseline or Limited
Edition to Standard edition. If this upgrade is made within the first 90 day or during a valid SUA period, we offer
you a full refundable upgrade. Note that the SUA end date will not change, therefore always ask for a new SUA
period to be included as well. It is not possible to “downgrade” your license.

For edition upgrades please use the following part number convention:
-BL/STD-UPG License upgrades from Baseline edition to Standard edition
-BL/LE-UPG License upgrades from Limited edition to Standard edition
-LE/STD-UPG License upgrades from Limited edition to Standard edition

 5. Multiple users

When ordering a product for several users simultaneously to the same end customer, we offer a Multiple User
Discount. The following table shows the maximum discount rate for up to 5 licenses.

Please note that the Multiple User Discount is not applicable for Baseline versions, Development Kits, Hardware
Debug probes or hardware locks. This discount can not be combined with any other discount such as school
discount or upgrade discount. The discount is not applicable for SUA either.

6. School Discount
For our IAR Embedded Workbench, visualSTATE and PowerPac base products we offer school discount for
educational, non-commercial purposes. We offer universities and non-commercial organizations to purchase
one network license, with five users, for the price of one Stand Alone license. If additional users are required the
price will be one fifth of the standard Stand Alone price per additional user. Only one set of manuals is delivered
per five users. We also offer single Stand Alone licenses with 50% discount. Please note that the customer must
purchase the dongle if he wants to have the Stand Alone version. A copy of the original order from the university
or the non-commercial organization and a filled in “Request for School and University discount” must be
attached to the purchase order when applying for a school discount.

Please note that the School Discount is not applicable for the Baseline products (except EWARM-BL,
EWAVR32-BL & EWCF-BL), IAR PowerPac Source products, Development Kits, Hardware Debug probes or
hardware locks
