RZ Series Technical Bulletin: Subject: CF Card

This technical bulletin provides information about using CF cards with RZ2/RZ3 models: 1) Riso recommends using their branded CF32M card to ensure compatibility. 2) Generic CF cards up to 128MB may work but are not guaranteed. 3) When downloading firmware updates, the program file must be placed in the root directory of the CF card and cannot be in subfolders. It will only download if the version is different from what is currently on the machine.

SUBJECT: CF Card
The descriptions below are to explain how CF card works on RZ2/ RZ3 models basically.

1) Riso recommended CF card

Part No. : 023-75058-009 CF32M; SU


This part is a unit parts which is consist of DMC-32 & DM PC card adopter.
This is the one which is used on RP3 for document storage.
This part is registered as spare parts, not as product.
This is what Riso can ensure that CF card will work on RZ model properly.

2) Performance check of CF card (Generic CF card)


Overseas technical had asked to collect CF card which are sold in local market in some
countries. They had been checked by our side and the most of them worked on RZ properly.
(The test result has been already informed back to you.) But Riso cannot ensure those cards
always work properly. If you doubt the application of the card, please use DMC-32 which we
recommend to use on RZ.
2)-a Capacity limit for CF card
Up to 128 MB
If the card is over 128MB, it would not be able to be
recognized on RZ.

3) Program download ( RZ firmware download)


3)-a Place the program file on the first directory on CF card F drive

4) REv record
4)-a When REv data is saving, "REV_DATA" directory will be automatically created on CF
card drive.
4)-b If there is communication error between CF card and RZ, "P97" error will appear on RZ.
(P97-939 to 946) Please refer technical manual description.
4)-c If you are saving REv data only, please delete the RZ program files on the first directory
on CF card. If there is RZ program file on first directory on the card (program version is
different from the machine version), program download will start immediately when
power sw is on. You won't be able to go into Test Mode.
