the result is the selling out instantly. Some company are also taking their skin whitening
products to online market because some people are demanding to this kind of whitening
agents. Cosmetic products became famous because of some entrepreneurs who
introduced to products to them and others are implementing the food-skin products to
the markets. Food-skin products have some benefits especially on the body. It nourishes
the body at the same time it whitens the skin.
There are lots of skin whitening products that you can buy on supermarkets and
drugstores. Thousands of teens, both women and men, made skin whitening agents
market success. Glutathione capsules should not be marketed as drugs or cosmetic, but
most of them still use this process. They will do anything whatever it takes just to
achieve what they want. Also on the other side, some women are still concerned about
the effects of some whitening products, both good and bad.
All cosmetic procedures have some level risks. Cosmetic surgery has greater risks
than non-surgical procedures. An independent review in 2013 marked the serious
concerns about cosmetic procedures industries. The government welcomed the review
and accepted most of the recommendations to ensure patients safety. Many more
rejected the industry’s message that women cannot succeed in their careers or their
love lives without altering the physical image.
There are more than 30 whitening soaps that are available in major and minor
outlets, and they are all competing to gain the attention of the customers. It depends on
how they advertised their product to be noticed by their consumer. Having a good
service to your customers is having a good result and feedback on your products.
The skin whitening industry made a large amount of money through producing
pills that focuses on helping to have a whiter skin. People are still in favour on trying
lightening pills. The usual reason is that people always like to have faster results that
becomes the main reason is that they are becoming more desperate on having faster
results than others. Several individuals have reasons to have lighter skin. There are
individuals that like the feature with the reason of one thing to blend in with the persons
that they are around most of the time. Others think that having lighter skin is more

attractive compared to darker skin tone; however it depends on the individual’s
preference.
The purpose of this study is to know the perceptions of the students on the
whitening product industry toward beauty. The researchers want to know the effects of
having a whiter skin tone on their level of performance, level of confidence, popularity,
satisfaction, insecurities as a student. They feel that they are more attractive and
popular when they have a whiter skin. Their insecurities about other people will vanish.
Although there are a lot of process on how to achieve whiter skin, they only have one
goal that they want to achieve and that is to have a whiter skin tone.
With this intention, this study was conducted to identify and emphasize the
effects of skin whitening industry to the perceptions of University of the Assumption
Senior High School on the academic year 2017-2018 toward beauty. Specifically, the
researchers sought to answer the following questions: What are the Whitening products
they have been used soap, lotion, cream, pills and injections; The effects of the skin
whitening industry on the perceptions toward beauty of the respondents pertaining to
level of confidence, popularity, satisfaction, insecurities, attractiveness, level of
performance, gaining attention; and gaining new friends.
This study focused on how the effects of skin whitening industry affects the
perceptions of University of the Assumption Senior High School on the academic year
2017-2018 toward beauty.
The Senior High School students’ usage of skin whitening products refers to how
they feel when they achieved white and fair skin. Skin whitening products were chosen
because of the increasing number of people, across the Philippines, that were using skin
whitening products especially teenagers.
This was limited only to Senior High School students under STEM, ABM, and
HUMSS/GAS strand which usually gave attention to their skin.
This study will have a critical role into helping the Senior High School students
for them to have a broader and deeper understanding regarding skin whitening product

industry specifically on their perceptions toward beauty. It will clear out the facts from
the general truth that the students have made up – ultimately leading to a better handle
of using whitening products. It will also help the students to spread the use of whitening
product, either reducing or having a better coping mechanism upon their perception
towards beauty. Lastly, the student will express themselves with their reasons on using
whitening products. This helped the parents realize that the perceptions that their
children have should not be taken lightly. It will motivate them to help their children
boost their self-confidence, giving the students the extra support that they need. Finally,
it will improve the parents’ awareness to their children, rest assured of what are the
effects of the skin whitening industry to their children’s perceptions toward beauty. This
study gave lots of benefit to the businessmen and businesswomen that sell whitening
products and they will know the probability of their products, if it will be trendy to their
customers. The benefits of this study will have a huge impact on the skin whitening
product industry because they will know the feedbacks and results of their products to
their customers. This also gave benefits to the advertisers, their advertisement
companies or agencies, to persuade more people to buy their skin whitening products
that will be acknowledged by their customers and will be known by the public. The
advertisement will be more aligned to the perception of the people who believes with
the power of the products that they are promoting.

varieties of soaps, lotions, creams, pills and scrubs that are placed in the beauty aisle of
every supermarket and other cosmetic stores. There are celebrities out there from the
advertisements on magazines, on the newspapers’ classified ads, on the brochures and
pamphlets, on billboards and on televisions – all declaring and broadcasting the benefits
of lighter colored skin. Surely, youngsters have their own reasons why they choose to
use skin whitening products.
