Education refers to the ways knowledge is passed on to others and can include factual data, skills, norms and values. There are two main types of education: formal education which occurs in classrooms with teachers, and non-formal education which is learning outside the classroom. Formal education has five main functions: socialization, social integration, social placement, cultural innovation, and latent functions. Education is also considered a human right as outlined in several international conventions and has three facets - it enables exercising all rights, all children have a right to quality education, and all children deserve equal opportunities. A productive citizenry and self-actualization are also outcomes of education.
