SESSION ENDING EXAMINATION : 2017 – 18 (RETEST/SUPPLEMENTARY)

Time Allotted: 03 Hrs Max Marks: 100

Class XI :Mathematics

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

(i) All questions are compulsory.


(ii) The question paper consists of 29 questions divided into four sections A,B,C and D.
Section A comprises of 4 questions of one mark each, Section B comprises of
8 questions of two marks each, Section C comprises of 11 questions of four
marks each and Section D comprises of 6 questions of six marks each.
(iii) All questions in Section A are to be answered in one word, one sentence or as per the exact
requirement of the question.
(iv) There is no overall choice. However, internal choice has been provided in 3 questions of
four marks each and 3 questions of six marks each. You have to attempt only one of the
alternatives in all such questions.
(v) Use of calculators is not permitted.

SECTION A

1 Determine the range of the relation R defined by R ={(𝑥, 𝑥 − 5): 𝑥 ∈ {0,1,2,3,4,5}}.

6 Ravi obtained 70 and 75 marks in first two periodic tests. Find the minimum marks

he should get in the third periodic test to have an average of at least 60 marks.

7 Find the value of r, if 5Pr = 6Pr-1

8 Three vertices of a parallelogram ABCD are A(3,-1,2),B(1,2,-4) and C(-1,1,2). Find

the x and y coordinate of the fourth vertex.

16 Find the Square root of -15 – 8i

(ii) do all the vowels always occur together?.

20 An arch is in the form of semi-ellipse. It is 8m wide and 2m height at the centre.

Find the height of the arch at a point 1.5 m from one end.

Find the equation of the circle passing through the Points (4,1) and (6,5) and

whose centre is on the line 4𝑥 +𝑦 =16

24 In a survey it was found that 21 people liked product A, 26 liked product B and 29
liked product C. If 14 people liked product A and B, 12 people liked products C
and A, 14 people liked product B and C and 8 liked all the three products. Find
how many liked
(i) Product C only?
(ii) Product A and B only?
(iii) How many liked exactly two products?
(iv) Do you support import of foreign product? Why?.

Find (a+b)6 - (a-b)6 using binomial theorem. Hence evaluate (√2+1)6 -( √2 -1 )6.

28 a) The sum of n terms of two Arithmetic Progressions is in the ratio

(3n+8): (7n + 15). Find the ratio of their 12th terms

b) In an A.P if pth term is 1/q and qth term is 𝑝, prove that the sum of first pq

29 (i) Find the equation of the line parallel to x -2 y +3=0 and passing through
the point (1,-2)
(ii) Assuming that a straight line work as the plane mirror, find the image of
the point(1,2) in the line x – 3 y + 4 = 0.
OR

If p and q are the lengths of perpendiculars from the origin of the lines

x cosθ – y sinθ =k cos2θ and x secθ + y cosecθ = k, respectively,

prove that 𝑝2 + 4𝑞 2 = 𝑘 2
