The GFM Times
Issue 3- Term 1
Dear Parents,
Thank you to all of you who attended the meet the Senior Team and class/form tutor sessions. I hope you
found them useful. Many thanks as well to all of you who supported our charity collection for Dubai Cares
through our Jeans for Genes awareness day on Thursday 19th September.
Please read this newsletter carefully as it has a great deal of important information.
Start of day-students who use own transport
The school entrances will be shut until 7.15am.
Please note that stopping on the road or on the interlock outside the front gate of the school may result in a
traffic fine from Dubai Police. If you have students from Y3-Y9 please drop them at the rear of the school
opposite Al Mizhar Health Centre.
FS-Y2 procedures
FS-Y2 may be taken to their respective classes if you wish and we would kindly request you to drop your
children and leave to enable them to settle and for learning to start as quickly as possible.
Y3-Y9 procedures all students (including bus students)
All students will assemble in the Multi Use Games Area (the shaded outdoor basketball courts at the rear of
the school) Kindly note that this is weather dependent at the moment. On hotter days students will go
directly to classes. They will line up in classes for registration, uniform check and the playing of the UAE
national anthem and a short address by myself. Students will then proceed directly to lesson 1.
End of day procedures postponed until the weather cools down –students who use own transport.
We will let you know when the procedures will start but at the moment it is too hot but they are outlined
below for your information.
FS-Y2 procedures
FS-Y2 may be collected from their respective classes as usual. FS students at 1pm and Y1 to Y2 students at
3pm, Sundays to Wednesdays.
Y3-Y9 procedures
Y3-Y9 students will be brought to the Multi Use Games Area (the shaded outdoor basketball courts at the
rear of the school) by their class teacher and line up in their respective classes. Parents may then collect
their children directly from the MUGA court up until 3.15pm. From 3.15pm students who are late will be
taken to the school canteen for collection. Again we would advise you to use the back gate. To avoid the
congestion at the Health Centre you may want to try taking the second right rather than the right that takes
you to the health centre.
Thursday 1pm finish.
Please be reminded all students finish at 1pm on Thursday –the above procedures will apply.
School protocols for issues
In order to ensure that any issues you have can be dealt with in the best possible way we have introduced a
GFM protocol this academic year. Please do follow the attached protocol to ensure any issue you have is
resolved in the most practical manner. It is attached to this newsletter. For any safeguarding issues you should
go straight to Ms. Ashley McCarthy our designated safeguarding lead or use the safeguarding email on the
protocol. A full list of email contacts and designations is attached to this newsletter.
