Descriptive Pattern (sensory or spatial)- The Philippines during the Spanish era

Spanish rule for the first 100 years was exercised in most areas through a type of tax
farming imported from the Americas and known as the encomienda. But abusive treatment
of the local tribute payers and neglect of religious instruction by encomenderos (collectors
of the tribute), as well as frequent withholding of revenues from the crown, caused the
Spanish to abandon the system by the end of the 17th century. The governor-general,
himself appointed by the king, began to appoint his own civil and military governors to rule
directly.

Comparison-Contrast- Eastern and Western culture

To begin with, Eastern and Western cultures resemble each other in some notable
aspects. The first similarity is the adherence to religious beliefs. Both civilizations shape their
lives according to their religious beliefs. In everyday speech, people use similar terms when
communicating with each other. Despite these similarities, eastern and western cultures
bear a few crucial differences as well. In Eastern culture, the concept of family is given more
importance than Western culture. Eastern countries have implemented an education
system based on traditions and customs, whereas the Western educational system is open
to innovations.

Cause-effects- Cause and effects of bullying

Many school kids who bully others often do so in order to show their dominance to
others and to raise their social status. Others may bully out of frustration and anger as they
may socially struggle or they could have been a victim of bullying themselves and feel that
bullying others helps them regain themselves as a person. There can be big effects on
victims of bullying and they can be left feeling guilty as if it is their own fault, unsafe, and
alone Bullying can also affect the victims in ways which they become medically unstable.
Someone people can be bullied so bad that they become depressed.
Listing- Most effective ways of studying

Learning how to study better helps avoid panic and frustration the next time a big
test is coming up. Get organized; Carry a homework planner at all times. Pay attention in
class, it’s important to concentrate and avoid distractions as well when the teacher is
speaking. Moreover steer clear of distractions. Next, make sure your notes are complete.
Also, raise your hand and ask questions if you don’t understand something. In addition,
review and expand on the notes from class in the evening.

Classification or division- Types of prose

Prose can be classified into four types in literature. The first type is the fictional
prose; it includes novels, novellas, and short stories. The second type is the non-fictional
prose; it includes biographies, essays, and journals. The third type is the heroic prose; it
includes legends, and tales. The last type is the poetry prose, it is poetry written in prose
instead of using verse but maintaining poetic qualities.

Definition- Tsunami

A tsunami sometimes incorrectly referred to as a tidal wave, also known as a seismic

sea wave, is a series of waves in a water body caused by the displacement of a large volume
of water, generally in an ocean or a large lake. Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and
other underwater explosions (including detonations of underwater nuclear devices),
landslides, glacier calvings, meteorite impacts and other disturbances above or below water
all have the potential to generate a tsunami.

Exemplification- Dangerous habits

A habit is basically a way of life. It is something you have become used to because
you do it very often. We all have bad habits, in example, binge drinking. Binge drinking, even
once in a while, is not good for your health as it can cause long term problems in your liver
and heart. The second example is sleeping less than six hours. If you sleep lesser than six
hours for a long duration of time, chances are high that you will weaken your immunity and
other bodily processes. The last example is smoking. Smoking can develop plaques in the
arteries by preventing a smooth flow of blood.

Problem-solution- Flooding

With the recent floods in the Philippines brought by tropical storms we are once
again reminded of a problem that comes to us with great regularity and increasing severity.
First, we need a reliable flood forecasting system. Second, there must be interoperability
between forecasters and local government units: Forecasts must reach local emergency
responders. Our flood warning and response system must be strengthened. Finally, data
sources must be readily available to the public.
Persuasion- Should phones be banned in school?

With the blooming development of science and technology, mobile phones have
become an indispensable part of life. However, mobile phones should not be banned in
schools. Actually, it is not necessary to ban mobile phones in schools. Additionally, using
mobile phones in schools has some positive influences. Furthermore, it is likewise a human
right for students. Firstly, through implementing some campus rules and some technological
means, the negative impresses of using mobile phones will be eliminated properly. Secondly,
it is no doubt that using mobile phones in campuses has many advantages. One reason is that
using mobile phones in schools provide a new platform for education systems similarly as
laptops, desktops and personal digital assistant (Rankin, 2008). The other reason is that
students may have a good communication with their parents by using mobile phones during
school time even for emergency situations. There is two third of parents contact their children
during campus time, mainly to awoke them of medical appointments or other commitments.
