of the two families consists of two parents and one child. Find the number of possible seating
arrangements if members of the same family are seated together, and the two single women

9. In a university, 60 % of alumni members enjoyed their course study, 70 % of alumni members

found jobs which they enjoyed given that they enjoyed their course of study, while 30 % of alumni
mebers did not enjoy their course of study and also found jobs which they did not enjoy. Find the exact
probability that

(a) an alumni member found a job which he enjoyed [5]

10. The travelling time for a randomly chosen ferry trip from Jakarta to Pulau Tidung, Kepulauan
Seribu, may be assumed to have a normal distribution with mean 90 minutes and standard deviation 3.6
minutes. A ferry trip is considered to be well-timed if its travelling time differ from the mean travelling
by at most 5 minutes

(a) Find the probability of a randomly chosen ferry trip being well-timed, correct to 3 significant

(b) A total of 10 ferry trips are made in a day. Assuming independence between the ferry trips,
find the least possible value of m such that the probability of at most m trips being well-
timed in a day exceeds 0.8 [3]
(c) A random sample of 55 ferry trips is taken. Find the probability that less than 10 trips are
not well-timed [4]
