GENERAL EDUCATION
GED0110: Understanding the Self

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This 3-unit course is designed to provide aspects about yourself
through an interdisciplinary approach using the Person-Behavior-Environment-Model, which
would facilitate self-discovery, achieve self-awareness and gain self-knowledge.

COURSE OBJECTIVES: The general objective of the course is to demonstrate the complex
nature of the self and identities and learn about caring for the self. Upon completion of the
course, you should be able to:
1) describe the basic constructs and assumptions about the self from various perspectives;
2) formulate conceptions of oneself based on its structures , identity and potentials;
3) demonstrate awareness on the interplay among personal, social and cultural factors on
the formation of the self; and
4) apply basic skills in managing and caring for the self in real-life concerns, issues and
situations.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

-Classroom face-to-face discussions and exercises
-Canvas engagement ang submission of online requirements
-Assessment: 70% formative, 30% summative
