As we set out into the next phase of our growth, it is time for us to take cognizance of the dynamics that
have fundamentally altered the world recently. To adapt to these changes we need to take the path of trans-
formation by following 2 mantras: ‘Excellence for Relevance’ and ‘Depth in addition to width’ to take us to
the next orbit.
These mantras will not only individually enrich us, but also harness our collective ability to reach much higher
goals. It will also give all of us ample opportunities for personal development through learning and team
work, with greater clarity on goals and specific accountability.
Importantly, financial services are based on the customer’s trust and I would like each one of you to conduct
yourself in a manner that builds confidence and trust.
Once again, I welcome you to Kotak Mahindra and I look forward to your co-operation and active participa-
tion in our next phase of growth.

G Murlidhar’s Message
Hello Friends,
Life Insurance is profession of nobility and responsibility. In our country where no defined social security
mechanisms exist, life insurance steps in to fill the gap. Over 12 million individuals draw their sustenance
from the sector which covers about 300 million lives. Life Insurance is also a key pillar in nation building. It is
among the biggest investors in the secondary markets and often when FIIs pull out based on global cues, it is
the Insurance sector that steps in to stabilize the market. The long term savings and protection nature of the
business has also made Insurance one of the biggest sources of long term funds, crucial to the country’s
development.
Kotak Life Insurance is among the pioneers in private life insurance space. We were also among the first few
to break even in the industry. What separates us from the rest is our Kotak culture of entrepreneurship and
empowerment. This enables us to provide the space and professional latitude to our employees to think
differently and uninhibited to the benefit of the company, its customers and themselves. The inherent
freedom in such a culture nurtures and retains bright minds who go on to become key vectors in enterprise
building. It is no surprise then that most of our top management today are individuals who have risen
through the Kotak Group’s ranks over time. Infinite opportunities await those with initiative.
Best regards,
G Murlidhar

GOLDEN CIRCLE BRAND PROMISE
How Great Brands Inspire Consumers to Take Action?
Simon Sinek's Golden Circle idea is an attempt to explain why some people and
organisations are particularly able to inspire others and differentiate themselves
successfully. The neuroscience behind the Golden Circle idea is that humans respond best
when messages communicate with those parts of their brain that control emotions,
behaviour and decision-making. According to Simon Sinek, the fundamental foundation
for the golden circle lies in understanding the inside – out thinking philosophy that
brands and people do. The 3 layers of the golden circle are explained by….
While deriving the brand promise Kotak Life Insurance felt that Simon Sinek’s model truly
reflects passion. We felt that Passionate leaders and passionate organisations express their
commitment and enthusiasm authentically, and this is what inspires others rather than the
manner in which they express themselves. Since Life Insurance is an emotional buy, adopting
the golden circle became a natural choice.
