SQL Express Installation

Download

1. Download SQLExpress 2008 R2 SP1 from the following link:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26729

2. Select one of these exe files based on your operating system:

SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.exe – Windows 7 - 64bits

SQLEXPR_x86_ENU.exe – Windows 7 - 32bits

Installation

1. Double click on the corresponding *.exe file for your operating system.

2. Select New installation or add feature to an existing installation (see below):

3. The Setup Support Rules dialog box displays pre-installation test results and notifies you of any
errors encountered or if additional software needs to be installed prior to the SQL Express
installation.

4. Click the OK button to begin the installation.

5. Select the I accept the license terms check box.

6. Click the Next > button.

The installation package searches your PC for the necessary support files required to continue the
installation.

7. Click the Install button to install the Setup Support Files and continue the installation.

8. Click Select All button to install all the Instance Features and Shared Features.

9. Click the Next> button.

10. In the Instance Configuration dialog box, click on the Named instance radio button and type
CRESTRON. The remaining fields will be automatically updated accordingly. (See above.)

11. Confirm that the Named instance and Instance ID read: CRESTRON.

12. Click the Next> button.

13. In the Server Configuration dialog box, drill to or click on the Service Accounts tab.

14. For the SQL Server Database Engine entry, click on the Account Name drop-down list box’s drop-
down arrow.

15. Select NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM and then click the Next> button.

The Database Engine Configuration dialog box does not require any changes.

16. Click the Next> button.

The installation proceeds and requires several minutes before presenting the Complete dialog box.

17. The Complete dialog box displays the installation’s final status.

18. If the installation failed, click on the Summary log file hyperlink, highlighted in blue, at the top of the
dialog box. Review the log to troubleshoot the failed installation.

19. If the installation was successful, click on the Close button and proceed to install Crestron Studio.
