Over the years, researchers have proved the relationship between parental involvement and

child’s educational performance. Parental involvement plays an important role in the child’s

educational performance and its effects are numerous. Gonzales-peinda (2002) stated that parents

being involve positively affects their child’s academic concept which is needed to the academic

performance of the child. When parents involve themselves, they chip in to their child’s emotion,

behavior, characteristic, social skills amd even theor school attendance. Childten are becoming

more cooperative and actively participating in their academic activities. It even affects the

teacher to have a possitive impression on the student. Just what Hara and Burke (1998) stated,

parental involvement is the key to a child’s success. However, not all parental involvement has a

good outcome to the child’s academic performance. Some children wants to be independent and

do not like their parents to be involved. Parental involvement can be affected by some factors

like educational background factor. Parents with a college degree tends to talk more about

educational issues and pushes their child to become more successful in the future. Amd those

parents who are undergraduate do not involve themselves that much because of confidence

inadequacy. There are still more factors that affect parental involvement like socioeconomic

status, lack of time, family structure, parenting style, parents beliefs and many more and these

factors may be a hindrance to their relationship to their child, contribute to their child’s academic

achievement and influence their level of involvement.
