Note: Below instructions are to update an existing HTML5 Web Client appliance to new versions

only. These steps are NOT to be run on the vCenter Server Appliance (VCSA), but only on the
HTML5 client appliance.

To deploy a fresh HTML5 Web Client appliance, follow the steps in this instructions document

Upgrade/Update Instructions for Existing Deployments

1. Check the H5client build number in the FAMI UI (https://<ip-address-of-client>:5490)

2.1. Using FAMI:


If you are on fling v1.17 onwards, follow below steps to upgrade to latest fling: - Login to
https://<H5_Appliance_IP_Address>:5490 with appliance credentials (root/demova) - You will
see UPDATE VSPHERE CLIENT button enabled, click the button and logs section of the UI will
give the status of the upgrade

2.2. Using command line interface:


Run below commands from a shell session to HTML5 web client appliance: Note:
You may need to use the '--no-check-certificate' flag if your wget fails due to certificate checks
You may also need to use '--execute https_proxy=:' if you have a proxy to work through

COMMANDS:

2.2.1. Login to the Fling using SSH: root/demova

2.2.2. Download the latest installer:


wget --no-check-certificate https://download3.vmware.com/software/vmw-
tools/vsphere_html_client/installer-4.0.1.bsx

2.2.3. Give it execute permissions:


chmod u+x installer-4.0.1.bsx

2.2.4. Start the installer:


./installer-4.0.1.bsx
3. Login to the Fling UI and configure it to connect to your VC
https://<FLING IP>:5490/
