COURSE SYPNOPSIS

This course covers the theories, concepts, and application of separation processes. This includes mass
transfer, separation techniques, and the design criteria of processes such as adsorption, evaporation, drying,
crystallization, membrane processes, and mechanical-physical separation processes.

COURSE OUTCOMES

At the end of this course, students should be able to:

1. apply the principle of mass transfer in separation processes.
2. explain the separation techniques based on vapor-liquid, liquid-liquid, solid-liquid, and gas-gas
system.
3. evaluate and identify a suitable separation technique to separate vapor-liquid, liquid-liquid, solid-
liquid, and gas-gas components based on factors involving feed, products, property differences
among chemical components, and characteristics of different separation processes.
4. analyze the performance of a separation process based on separation principles and mathematical
calculations.
