PHYSICAL THERAPY

A. PT LABORATORY

The laboratory room for PT practicum must be well-lighted and ventilated and should be
equipped with the following
1. ratio of students to plinths with mattresses 1:2 per class
2. stools/chairs should be 1 per student
3. grounded 3-pronged electrical outlets on all four walls
4. separate small dressing area for male and female
minimum required physical therapy equipment

Electrotherapy and hydrotherapy modalities (at least one of each)

1. Ultrasound
Electrical Stimulator (should allow for regulation of parameters)
3. Interferential current therapy unit
- Hydro collator unit with complete set of hot moist packs
- Cold packs
- Biofeedback or surface EMG

Therapeutic exercise modalities

- exercise equipment (but not limited to the following)


- set of free weights with varying loads
- gym mat
- therapeutic balls of varying sizes elastic bands and tubing of varying
colors
- motorized treadmill
- training stairs and standard ramps
- parallel bars
- balance boards/balance trainers
- virtual reality modalities (e.g., Wii, X- Box Kinect, PS)
- wedges and bolsters
- standard crutches
- forearm crutches
- standard cane
- quadrilateral cane
- walker
- wheelchair
- Postural mirror
Orthotic and prosthetic devices, such as but not limited to above knee prosthesis

- above knee prosthesis


- below knee prosthesis
- spinal orthotic
- splints
- knee immobilizer
- hand splints
- posterior leaf spring

Assessment tools such as but not limited to:

- weighing scale
- stadium meter
- tape measure
- goniometry
- aneroid or digital sphygmomanometer
- digital thermometer
- stethoscope
- neuro hammer with pin and brush
- pulse oximeter
- penlight

Others

- 2 pillows with pillow cases for every plinth


- 2 standard-sized bath towels for every plinth
- Guard belts
- Dolls for pediatric simulations
- Storage and safety facilities as well as utilities.
- Cabinets for storage
- Continuous and adequate supply of water and electricity
- Fire extinguishers with valid certificates and should be readily accessible
- First aid kit/cabinet with complete basic first aid materials

B. Physiology Laboratory should be adequately equipped to carry on experiments or


demonstrations, such as, but not limited to:

1. Arterial blood pressure


2. Incentive Spirometry
3. Investigation of general sensation
4. Nerves muscIe experiment
5. Measurement of radiation and skin temperature Circulation
- Human metabolism and adaptation to exercise
- Muscular efficiency and ergometry

C. Anatomy and Neuroanatomy Laboratory

1. One (1) human cadaver for every ten (10) students, or one (1) life-size plastic model
showing complete details of muscles, peripheral nerves, and vessels for every twenty-five
(25) students.
2. Human Skeleton
One (1) mounted articulated skeleton for every group of twenty-five (25) students
One (1) complete disarticulated skeleton for every group of twenty-five (25) students
3. One (1) brain model for every group of twenty-five (25) students
4. Timers and tags
5. Charts/atlases/plastic models/software’s
Support Services

1. School Clinic
2. Guidance Counselor
3. Study Areas
4. Recreational areas
5. Religious services, as appropriate

PSYCHOLOGY
Laboratories and other Facilities

1. There should be a psychological research laboratory with various equipment which


may be relevant for conducting psychological (especially experimental) research. For
each institution, the type of equipment will depend on the research thrusts and
interests of the psychology faculty
2. There should be an up-to-date collection of psychological test materials (intelligences,
aptitude and personality test). Each category or test should be represented in the
collection.
3. There should be at least three (3) computers in the Department of Psychology with
Internet access for the use of faculty and students.
