At the end of the lesson, students should able to;
1. Define the five steps in Scientific Inquiry;
2. Enumerate each attitudes that scientist must have;
3. Differentiate Scientific Inquiry and Scientific Method &
4. Realize the importance of each steps and attitudes in real life.

Topic: Matter
Subtopic: Scientific Method
Reference: Science 7 Investigating life and beyond
Materials: Cartolina, masking tape, white board marker
Concepts: scientific method- it is a step by step procedure of scientific
problem solving.
Attitudes of scientist- a scientist needs to develop good attitudes to
have successful investigation.

divide you into three groups. Each group
will give their ideas about it.

It is the art of questioning, and by that
you can learn from it.

example of scientific inquiry.

Science is all about learning and


understanding something new. Inquiry
means to ask for information or
investigate something to find out more.

The following attitudes is needed by the


scientist to have a good work. The first
one is Curiosity. What is it? Please read.
Ma’am curiosity is the one being
inquisitive shows a person’s desire to
learn and explore.

Ma’am open-mindness is the ability of


a person to accept mistakes and ideas
from other people to improve one’s
investigation.

that you are accepting those ideas,
knowledge that you get without judging

Perseverance, a person that shows a
strong determination to pursue his/her
work inspite of challenges and
problems during the investigation.
Yes, they are the one who never give up
that fast. They will push their selves until
the work is done. What is Humility?
Ma’am, this is a person’s quality of
being respectful. There is the absence
of pride in a humble person.
Being Humble is the key. There’s no use
if you are an arrogant person. Next?
Ma’am intellectual-honesty is a person
do not pirate or steal other person’s
work and claim it as his property.
Being Original is unique. Nobody wants
to be a copy-cat. Next?
Patience is the ability to wait without
being upset.
Yes! Patience is important. It helps a
scientist to push his/her study. Some
experiments/investigations takes time
before it has done. So, you need to have
more patience. Next?
Skepticism refers to the ability to
question the authenticity of something
considered factual.
It is generally a questioning attitude or
doubt towards to something. Next?
Resourceful refers to a person’s ability
to find alternative solutions to
problems, especially in difficult
situations.
If you have a plan A and it doesn’t work
out, you need to have your plan B, C, D,
E, until you finish your work. Lastly?
Objectivity is the ability to distinguish
true observations from hearsay.
Yes, you need to set your goal in every
investigations/ activity to be more
effective.
