Reporter (Local News) Miea Monponbanua:

A magnitude 5.9 earthquake jolted Bohol province early Tuesday, the Philippine
Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The tremor occurred at 12:59 am at a depth of 551 kilometers southeast of Lila town.
Instrumental intensity I was recorded in Borongon City, Eastern Samar.
Phivolcs said it does not expect damage, but warns of aftershocks from the tremor.

3 suspects in US trader’s murder jailed in Cavite.

Reporter (National News) Kyzie Elpedes:

Police has arrested three of the four suspects who robbed and fatally shot Michael
Richard Jensen, an American business executive at his residence in plush subdivision in
Silang municipality, last Tuesday.
Senior Supt. Arthur Velasco Bisnar, Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) director,
withheld the identities of the suspects for the meantime as they were undergoing
questioning yesterday.
“ Three suspects were already in police custody. Custodial investigation is ongoing.
There is still one suspect who remains at large,” Bisnar told.
A Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) led by Bisnar was created following the
incident at Jensen’s house in Chateaux de Paris Subdivision in Barangay Inchican at 9:30
p.m. last Tuesday.

Ph-Canada close cooperation resolved trash now, envoy said

Canadian Ambassador John Holmes on Monday credited close cooperation between the
Philippine and Canadian governments in resolving the row over trash shipped to Manila.
In his remarks during the Canada Day reception hosted by the Canadian Chamber of
Commerce of the Philippines, Holmes acknowledged the role of Philippine officials led by
Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. in providing support.
