CUSTOM CASEWORK

PART 1: GENERAL

1.01 SCOPE OF WORK

A. Furnish all labor, materials, equipment and incidentals required and install
kitchen cabinets and tops as shown on the drawings and specified here in.

1.02 RELATED SECTIONS

1.04 SUBMITTALS FOR REVIEW

A. Shop Drawings: Indicate materials, component profiles and elevations,


assembly methods, joint details, fastening methods, accessory listings,
hardware location and schedule of finishes.

B. Product Data: Provide data for hardware accessories.

C. Samples: Submit one (300 x 200 mm) size sample, illustrating cabinet finish
and material.

D. Samples: Submit one (250 x 150 mm) size sample, illustrating counter top
finish and material.

E. Samples: Submit one sample of drawer pulls, hinges, and handles,


illustrating hardware finish.

1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Perform work in accordance with AWI Custom quality.

B. Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing the


Products specified in this section with minimum three years' experience.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.01 WOOD MATERIALS

A. Softwood Lumber: PS 20; graded in accordance with AWI Custom; average


moisture content of 8 percent.

B. Hardwood Lumber: graded in accordance with AWI Custom; average


moisture content of 8 percent.

C. MDF panel: Shall be made of 18mm for kitchen cabinets medium density
fiberboard (MDF) moisture resistant, density of 700 kg/m3, panel covered
with 120gms. Of plastic laminate per square meter on both sides.

2.02 DOORS

A. Doors

To be 18mm thick (MDF) for kitchen cabinets, veneered with plastic laminate.

2.03 LAMINATE MATERIALS

A. Plastic Laminate: AWI, 0.9mm thick, color and surface texture as selected
.

B. Wood Veneer: hardwood plywood; Graded in accordance with AWI custom


veneer core, type of glue recommended for application; of grain quality
suitable for transparent finish.

2.04 CARCASE

A. Sides:

Shall be made of 18mm thick medium density fiberboard (MDF) panel


covered with 120gms. of plastic laminate per square meter on both sides.
These panels are per-drilled for dowels and for adjustable shelves. (Exposed
sides are same as door finish)

B. Decks:

Shall be made of 18mm thick medium density fiberboard (MDF) panel


covered with strip edge at the front.

C. Bottom:

Shall be made of 18mm thick medium density fiberboard (MDF) panel


covered with 120gms. Of melamine per square meter on both sides. And
edge strip at the front. These are doweled with 6 dowels at each end.

D. Shelves:

Shall be made of 18mm thick medium density fiberboard (MDF) panel


covered with strip edge at the front.

E. Backing:

Shall be made of 3.0mm thick white coated medium density fiberboard (MDF)
panel.

2.05 PLINTH:

A. as shown on ID drawings.

2.06 SINK:

2.07 WATER MIXER:

A. Chrome plated water mixer (Refer to ID cutsheets).

2.08 SOLID TOP SURFACING

A. Work top: Shall be 10.5mm thick porcelain slabs with backsplash, as shown
on drawings and stated on BOQ.

2.09 ACCESSORIES

A. Adhesive: Type recommended by laminate manufacturer to suit application


with low VOC emissions to comply Dubai Municipality Green Regulations.

B. Plastic Edge Trim: Extruded flat shaped; smooth finish; self locking serrated
tongue; of width to match component thickness; color as selected.

C. Wire Glass: Clear, polished both sides square mesh of woven stainless steel
wire of 18 mm) grid size; 6 mm) thick.

D. Fasteners: Size and type to suit application.

E. Bolts, Nuts, Washers, Lags, Pins, and Screws: Of size and type to suit
application; Stainless Steel finish in concealed locations and Galvanized
finish in exposed locations.

F. Concealed Joint Fasteners: Threaded steel.

G. Grommets: Plastic material for cut-outs.

2.10 HARDWARE

A. Shelf Standards and Rests: Formed steel channels and rests, cut for fitted
rests spaced at (25mm) centers; chrome finish.

B. Shelf Brackets: Formed steel brackets, formed for attachment with lugs;
chrome finish.

C. Drawer and Door Pulls: Extruded aluminum pull, full width of drawer,
polished finish.

D. Sliding Door Pulls: Circular shape, aluminum with polished finish.

E. Cabinet Locks: Keyed cylinder, two keys per lock, steel with chrome.

G. Drawer Slides: Galvanized steel construction, ball bearings separating tracks,


full extension type.

H. Hinges: demountable and concealed type spring loaded, steel with chrome
finish, each door is hung by 2 nos. hinges.

I. Sliding Door Track Assemblies: Galvanized steel construction, ball bearing


carriers fitted within tracks, multiple pendant suspension attachments for
door.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.01 EXAMINATION

A. Verify adequacy of backing and support framing.

B. Verify location and sizes of utility rough-in associated with work of this
section.

3.02 INSTALLATION

A. Set and secure casework in place; rigid, plumb, and level.

B. Use fixture attachments in concealed locations for wall mounted components.

C. Use concealed joint fasteners to align and secure adjoining cabinet units and
counter tops.

D. Carefully scribe casework abutting other components, with maximum gaps of


(1mm). Do not use additional overlay trim for this purpose.

E. Secure cabinet and counter bases to floor using appropriate angles and
anchorages.

F. Countersink anchorage devices at exposed locations. Conceal with solid


wood plugs of species to match surrounding wood; finish flush with
surrounding surfaces.

3.03 ADJUSTING

A. Adjust moving or operating parts to function smoothly and correctly.

3.04 CLEANING

A. Clean casework, counters, shelves, hardware, fittings, and fixtures.
