Installation Procedure for MATLAB Software for all students and faculty members

using MATLAB Portal

Step 1: Go to National Institute of Technology Karnataka Surathkal’s MATLAB Portal

Step 2: Click on the “Sign in to get started” option in the “Get Software” section.
Step 3: If you have a MathWorks accounts with your University email address, proceed
by logging in using your MathWorks account credential.

Step 4: If you do not have a MathWorks accounts with your University email address,
click on Create Account and create a MathWorks account with your university email
address.
Step 5: Once your MathWorks Account is created, go back to the National Institute
of Technology Surathkal’s MATLAB Portal and click on Sign-in to get started. Login
with your MathWorks Account. You will be redirected to your MathWorks account
License Center page, where you will see a message saying your MathWorks account is
now associated with the license.

Step 6: Obtain the installation files from the university share folder depending on the
operating system where you want to install MATLAB.

Step 7: Start the installer


For Windows, double-clicking on setup.exe
For MAC OS, Double-click the Install file.
For Linux, Use the unzip command to extract the files from the archive file that you
downloaded from the MathWorks website. After extracting the files, execute the installer
command: ./install

You will be redirected to the MathWorks Installer page.

Step 8: Leave the Log in with a MathWorks Account option selected (the default), and
then click Next. During installation, you log in to your MathWorks Account, select the
license you want to install, and follow the prompts in the installer.
Step 9: Review the License Agreement
Review the software licensing agreement and, if you agree to its terms, click Yes
and click Next.
Step 10: Log in to your MathWorks account

To log in to your MathWorks Account, enter your email address and password, and
click Next.

Step 11: Select Individual License and click Next.


Step 12: Specify the Installation Folder
Specify the name of the folder where you want to install MathWorks products.
Accept the default installation folder or click Browse to select a different one.
If the folder doesn’t exist, the installer creates it.

Step 13: Specify Products to Install, leave it by default all products checked and
continue to click Next.

Step 14: On Windows, the Installation Options dialog box offers you the option to
put shortcuts for starting MATLAB in the Start menu and on the desktop. After
selecting installation options, click Next to proceed with the installation.
Step 15: Confirm Your Choices and Begin Copying Files

Before it begins copying files to your hard disk, the installer displays a summary of
your installation choices. To change a setting, click Back. To proceed with the
installation, click Install.

As it copies files to your hard drive, the installer displays a status dialog box to
show the progress of the installation.

Step 16: Complete the Activation


When the installation successfully completes, you can choose to activate the
software you just installed. You cannot use the software you installed until you
activate it. Activating immediately after installation is the quickest way to start
using MATLAB. Click Next to proceed with activation.

Step 17: Specify the User Name

By default, the activation application fills in the user name of the person running
the activation application. This is the login username that you use to login to the
computer. To accept this default, click Next.
If you used your administrator account to install the software but will use another
account to access the software, you can specify that user name here, then
click Next.
Step 18: Confirm Your Activation Information
If all the information displayed is correct, click Confirm.
Step 19: Complete the Activation
After activating your installation, click Finish to exit the activation process.

Step 20: Start MATLAB.
