1 Overview
The RRU5251 is a remote radio unit (RRU). One or more RRU5251 modules constitute the
radio frequency (RF) part of a distributed base station. The RRU5251 can be mounted onto a
pole, stand, or concrete wall. It also can be installed close to antennas to shorten the feeder
length, reduce feeder loss, and improve system coverage. RRUs modulate and demodulate
baseband signals and RF signals, process data, amplify power, and detect standing waves.

1.1 Exterior
Figure 1-1 shows the exterior of an RRU5251.
1.2 Ports
The RRU has a modular design. Its external ports are located at the bottom of the module and
in the cabling cavity. Table 1-1 describes the ports on an RRU5251.
2 Technical Specifications
2.2 Capacity
Table 2-2 Capacity of the RRU5251 LTE TDD
LTE TDD receiver sensitivity is measured, as recommended in 3GPP TS 36.104, under a 5 MHz
bandwidth based on the FRC A1-3 in Annex A.1 (QPSK, R = 1/3, 25 RBs) standard.
Band 40 40 W 160 W
Band 40 300 W
The typical power consumption refers to the power consumption when the ambient temperature is 25°C
and the traffic load reaches 50%. The actual power consumption has a 10% deviation from this value.

Cascading level 4
Maximum distance from a BBU If RRUs are cascaded, the distance between the
lowest-level RRU and the BBU cannot exceed 20
km. If RRUs are not cascaded, the distance
between the RRU and BBU cannot exceed 10 km.
