Hiring and Empanelment of Project Assistants / Research Associates/

Project Fellows under CSIR/Externally Funded Projects.

CSIR−Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysuru is one of the

leading research institutions in the area of Food Science and Technology under the umbrella of
Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology and
Earth Sciences. Established in the year 1950, the R&D focus of the institute are Engineering
Sciences, Technology Development, Translational Research and Food Protection & Safety. The
institute is involved in major National Mission projects along with Focused Basic Research,
Niche creation projects etc. along with a large number of externally funded projects from
government as well as industries.

Applications are invited for empanelment and hiring of Project Assistants / Research
Associates/ Project Fellows at various levels under CSIR/Externally funded projects. Area wise
panels will be prepared in the related disciplines for their selection to various projects
whenever the need arises. As per the CSIR-CFTRI guidelines, details of requirements like
qualification, age, stipend etc. are given below:

* Age limit will be reckoned as on the last date of the online application and Five years
of Age relaxation applicable for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/Woman/ Divyangjan for SL. No. 1-3.
The upper age limit is relaxable upto 5 years in the case of applicants belonging to
SC/ST/ Woman/ Divyangjan whereas only 3 years in case of OBC (NCL) for Sl. No.4-8.
**Project staff employed in Grant-in-Aid projects funded by Government Departments
such as DST, DBT, ICAR, ICMR, DAE etc. will be paid stipend and other benefits as approved
by the funding agencies. Hence, this stipend mentioned above is consolidated and may vary as
per project norms.

Terms and Conditions:

a. Candidates should not have exceeded Maximum age limit as on last date of the online
application.

b. The engagement will be purely on temporary and contractual basis under the
CSIR/Externally funded/other projects undertaken by CSIR-CFTRI which may be
extended or curtailed depending on the status/ duration of the project, satisfactory
performance / conduct and shall be co-terminus with the project duration or till
the funds are available, whichever is earlier.

c. The engagement under any CSIR/Externally funded/sponsored project does not confer
any right/claim whatsoever either explicitly or implicitly on the appointee for regular
appointments in CSIR/CFTRI, against any post or otherwise under any legal conditions
precedent. It would therefore, not confer any right/claim, implicit or explicit, on the
part of the candidates for regularization/absorption against any post in CSIR/CFTRI
or under any other scheme of CSIR.

d. Performance of the selected candidates will be reviewed every six months. In case the
performance is not satisfactory, the fellowship could be terminated with one month’s
notice or one month’s stipend in lieu thereof.

e. No TA/DA will be given to the candidates for attending the interview.

f. If already the candidate is working in CSIR-CFTRI or in any other CSIR labs, a

“No objection certificate” from the PI is mandatory at the time of interview.

g. The prescribed essential qualifications are the minimum and should be in the areas
mentioned as above. Mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be
called for interview. The institute will adopt its own criteria for short listing the
candidates. The candidate should, therefore, mention in the application all the
qualifications and experience in the relevant area over and above the minimum
prescribed qualification, supported with documents and ensure that all details are
complete and accurate.

h. House Rent Allowance (HRA) payable as per project norms.

i. The selection would be based upon the performance in the interview or any other
criteria adopted by the selection committee(s). A panel of suitable students would be
generated after the selection process and the validity of this panel would be for a
maximum period of one year.
Empanelment does not provide automatic guarantee of engagement. Utilization of
panels depends on the number of positions available in various projects during the
period and any interim inquiry will not be entertained.

j. Candidates who have completed their degree with requisite educational qualifications
only need to apply. However, candidates appearing/appeared for the qualifying
examination whose results are awaited need not apply.

k. The decision of the Director, CSIR-CFTRI regarding selection will be final and binding.

l. Maximum duration in one project or in different projects taken together in CFTRI or

other CSIR labs shall not be more than five years in any case.

m. Notifications regarding interview and list of shortlisted candidates shall be displayed on

the Institute’s website: https://www.cftri.res.in from time to time.

1. Only candidates who fulfill the above eligibility criteria may fill in the online application
available through our website https://www.cftri.res.in . No other mode of application
will be considered.

2. The candidate should have a valid personal email ID and mobile no., which should be
kept active till the completion of this Recruitment Process. In case a candidate does not
have a valid personal e-mail ID, he/she should create his/her new e-mail ID and mobile
no. before applying on-line and must maintain that email account and mobile number.

3. Candidates are advised to go through the instructions for online filling of the application
carefully.

4. Online Application will be available on CSIR-CFTRI website https://www.cftri.res.in

Opens on 04-06-2019 (10.00 a.m. onwards) and Closes on 31-07-2019 (till 05.00 p.m)
and take print out of the successfully submitted online application form for future
reference.

5. Candidate is required to upload his/her recent passport size scanned photograph

(max size 50 KB), scanned signature (max size 50 KB) and also relevant certificates
(max size 500 KB) at the specified places in the online application.

6. In case of Universities/Institutes awarding CGPA/SGPA/OGPA grades etc., candidates

are required to convert the same into percentage based on the formula as per their
University/ Institute.

7. Candidates should keep a copy of the application print-out for their record. Print-out of
Application will not be available after 05.00 p.m. on last date of online Application
i.e. 31-07-2019.

8. Only a single application will be entertained from each candidate. Multiple

applications for different posts will not be accepted. IN CASE A CANDIDATE SUBMITS
MULTIPLE ONLINE APPLICATIONS WITH DIFFERENT EMAIL IDS OR MOBILE
NUMBERS, HIS/HER APPLICATION WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY REJECTED.
