STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Academics:
I completed my matriculation in 2005 from S.S.S.S Public School with 65.2% and Senior
Secondary in 2007 with 73.8% marks from Ashoka Senior Secondary School. After completing
my schooling from State board, I joined D.A.V College, Amritsar, affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev
University (2007-2010). I acquired the degree of Bachelor of Computer Applications with 69.4%
aggregate (First Division) and gained advanced knowledge about software and hardware aspects
of computers. After completing my bachelors, I pursued Master of Computer Applications from
Guru Nanak Institute of Management under Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New
Delhi from 2010 to 2013 and attained 79.2% marks.
Work Experience:
After completing my Post Graduation, I worked at Aon Hewitt as a Benefits Operations
Administrator. There as a part of Benefits Admin Team, during my tenure of 26 months with
Aon Hewitt, I got a chance to work with clients like Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase & Co.
During this whole journey I learnt various new things about Client and Data management from
my seniors and was appreciated various times for project completion with zero flaws and met
the deadlines. After Aon Hewitt, I joined NITS Solution India PVT. LTD. (IT firm based in Michigan,
U.S.A, Jan 2016 – Dec 2017) as a ‘Data Analyst’. As part of Data Analysis Team, I worked with
major Automobile companies like Volvo, Volkswagen, Audi, Hyundai. Where, I utilized my
knowledge on data management, validating data and analysis techniques by utilizing tools like
SQL, Microsoft Excel and R language. During my professional journey, I learnt that being
certified in computers and information technology helped me in achieving various milestones in
my career till date, and further getting Certified in Cloud Computing will act as a “Feather in the
Hat” which I really want to add to my own repertoire.
Purpose of Study in Canada:
For this, I have chosen to pursue Post Graduate Certificate course in ‘Cloud Computing for Big
at Lambton College, Toronto, Canada. I have been working as a Data analyst. It involves
managing and maintaining data, analysis and validating of data using tools and techniques like R
Language, SQL and Excel. I am always fascinated by the power of seemingly mundane data. I
enjoy harnessing information from data.
The industry is constantly evolving. I have strived to equip myself with the latest technologies
and to be able to tackle the latest challenges related to data. The inevitable shift of the
industry is towards big data, which is challenging the traditional data storage and application.
With my accumulated knowledge and industry experience related to management of data,
the additional qualification of big data analytics will put me in a very advantageous spot in
the global job market and also help my career advance in leaps and bounds. The natural
course for realization of this goal led me to the Big Data Applied science post graduate level
course offered by Lambton College and I got accepted.
WHY LAMBTON, CANADA?
I want to study at Lambton College because the ‘Graduate Certificate for Cloud Computing for
Big Data ‘comes with a comprehensive and real world course-list like Database Design and SQL,
Big Data Fundamentals - Data Storage Networking,Big Data Strategiesall of which holds
relevance today and the foreseeable future. Apart from the course, Lambton also ranks high
among students, for its cosmopolitan campuses and enviable industry connections. As per the
Ontario College KPI survey reports, student and graduate satisfaction at Lambton is really
high. I am confident that my career will be taken forward by several notches. Furthermore, an
international credential will not only look extremely good in the competitive Indian job
market, but also, it will help me get exposure and insight to various other cultures. This will
make me more cohesive part of the global workplace, especially now, when in India, we are
collaborating with so many international clients and colleagues. With Canada offering world-
class education, international exposure, beautiful landscapes and the perfect post-graduation
course I aspired for, there is little left to be desired.
Future Plans:
Once I complete my Post graduate diploma, my goal is to work with data at a much deeper level
than I currently do. I hope to work as a ‘Big Data Analytics Developer’ or ‘Business Data
Analyst’ with the power of decrypting transactional data. I hope to mine data for fruitful path
breaking analysis. There are more Big Data Analytics jobs in India than there are qualified
resources. I hope to make most of this opportunity and tap this huge market, not only in IT
companies, but also in other organizations (retail/pharmaceutical), which are generating huge
amounts of data and want to be able to use it.
