Pakistan ASCD
Pakistan ASCD (Association for Supervision & Curriculum Development) is an official Affiliate Group of
ASCD, USA, founded in 1943. It provides a platform for educators, policy makers, educational researchers
and students to connect and collaborate to uplift education in Pakistan. It also aims to connect Pakistani
educators with their global counterparts in order to exchange ideas and work to help each other progress.
Comprising of 125,000 members, including school superintendents, principals, teachers, professors, and
advocates from more than 138 countries, the ASCD community also includes 56 affiliate organizations.
ASCD’s non-profit oriented, diverse and non-partisan membership is its greatest strength, projecting a
powerful and unified voice to decision makers around the world.
No Teacher Left Behind
One of Pakistan ASCD’s main aims is to work towards the goal of ‘No Teacher Left Behind’ by:
1. Raising the social status of teachers
2. Providing quality training and support to teachers, especially in low income schools and
underprivileged areas.
3. Creating a platform which helps teachers grow as educational reformers
4. Giving teachers a voice where they can express their concerns and challenges
5. Opening up opportunities for educators to visit, form links and receive training from international
educational organizations in order to bring the latest educational practices to Pakistan.
6. Enabling teachers to teach and learn from global perspectives in collaboration with peers from all
over the world.
To achieve these aims Pakistan ASCD Invites the private and public sector (including policy makers and
members of the planning commission, Ministry of Education, students, parents, the international
community and the society at large) to work together as a think tank for Pakistan’s education sector.
Professional Development
ASCD seeks to provide opportunities for teachers to excel through professional development according
to international standards. We aim to provide training that covers 21st century learning techniques,
effective instructional strategies, how to create differentiated classrooms and other leading educational
practices.
Furthermore, we believe in bringing about reform and development within schools. We are fully
committed to equitable education and for that we aim to provide training opportunities for teachers and
administrators of underprivileged schools, minorities and rural areas through face to face and online
training sessions. We strive to reduce the disparity between urban and rural areas of Pakistan and
elsewhere and to bring international standards of teaching and learning into all schools and colleges of
Pakistan. We believe in the holistic development of each learner and are committed to diversity in
learning.

We aim to help local educators access ASCD’s leading edge products and services that can accelerate
their professional development and achieve their school’s performance targets. Our organization is
dedicated to providing the most innovative on-site, online, and blended solutions that are customized,
aligned, and differentiated to meet the needs and goals of our fellow educators.
Publications
We strongly believe that a community can grow immensely when educators connect to share ideas,
experiences, challenges and solutions. This connected community is in keeping with the tradition of its
pioneer organization, ASCD, USA and intends to launch an educational newsletter and journal of
international standards.
The newsletter and journal will publish articles and research on educational practices, suggested
improvements and legislative advocacy. Thereby subscribers all over the world will be able to get useful
information as well as practical and implementable strategies delivered to their email inbox once a month.
Currently, our official blogs for educators and students are up and running.
Legislative Advocacy
For the first time we are providing a forum to bring all stakeholders on one platform and are inviting
students and parents as well to join the debate, in an attempt to answer the following questions:
1. How can educational standards be improved?
2. What aspects of the current curriculum needs to be revised?
3. How can the government support education through legislation?
4. What issues take priority in educational reforms and why?
5. How can teachers from low income schools and underdeveloped areas be granted a better social
status?
We want educators to have an equal voice in advocating legislation. We want to ensure the federal
education policy is shaped by people who know how to educate children. We will also strive hard to
launch issue forums where policy makers find common ground on key issues affecting teaching and
learning.
We strive to reduce the disparity between urban and rural areas of Pakistan and elsewhere, and to
introduce international standards of pedagogy into all schools and colleges of Pakistan. We believe in the
holistic development of each learner and are committed to diversity in learning.
“Whole Child” Initiative
ASCD's Whole Child approach is an effort to transition from a focus on narrowly defined academic
achievement to one that promotes the long-term development and success of all children. Through this
approach, ASCD supports educators, families, community members, and policymakers as they move from
