Part I – Functions of Email

1. Emails can be used to contact or communicate to different people on different parts of the
world.
2. Emails can also be used to inform peoples about your product, also called advertisement.
3. Lastly, it makes sharing information a lot easier with one click.

Part II – A. Parts of Email

1. Local part of an email can be found before the “@” sign, this part identifies the name of the
mail like a username.
2. Domain part of an email can be found after the “@” sign, this part is full of strict guidelines
and must match the requirements for a hostname.
B. Features of Email
1. Email Folders – keeps your mails organized and not jumbled, without email folders, your
spam, business emails, and friends email will be in one place and it will be hard to find what
you’re looking for.
2. Inbox – is what’s keeping your recently received mails, receiving mails or downloaded mails.
3. Outbox – is where your unfinished emails temporarily saves to before you send it, for
example: you’re making an email to send to your boss and the computer crashed, when you
open your mails to find your unfinished email, you will find it to the outbox.
4. Sent – is the area that stores the successfully delivered messages.
5. Drafts – is your finished email waiting to be send, once the email is sent, it will go to the
Sent area.

Part III – Definitions

1. Email Address – is a name for your email that makes your email unique from other people.
2. Email Client – is a program to make, send, and receive your e-mails, for example: Gmail and
Yahoo!
3. Flagged or Starred – this feature can help you manage your email better, because it can be
used to prioritized important emails.
4. Spam – is an area where unsolicited or junk emails go.
5. Trash – is where your deleted emails end up.
