Course Title: Introduction to Computing

A. UEP’s Vision:

Graduates of the University of Eastern Philippines should:

D. College Goals:
The College aims to produce graduates who are professional competent, with scientific attitude,
true humanists, efficient promoters of environmental protection, facilitators of learning, and strongly
supportive of the provincial, regional, and national development goals.

E. Program’s Learning Outcomes:


1. Prepare students who are professionally competent in IT field.
2. Develop students in computer problem analyzation and critical thinking skills for
development.
3. Develop student’s research and extension capabilities for IT.
4. Produce graduates with desirable computer ethics, attitude and moral values.
5. Produce professionally qualifies graduates that can be employed in government and private
agencies/institutions both national and international where scientist with IT expertise are
needed.
F. Course Description:
An introduction to computers, network communications, and information systems. This course
provides the student with knowledge about hardware, software and data management systems. The
student is provided experience with an operating system environment, application software including
productivity tools, and the use of the internet to communicate and search for information .

G. Student Learning Outcomes:


After completion of this course, students will understand the basic concepts of modern computers
and their impact on society: Application software, Various types of computer hardware and their
functions, Data storage facilities, Utilization of the Internet by society today, Data communications and
networking. Students will also learn the basic features and be able to use: Word-processing software,
Spreadsheet software, and Presentation software.
