Discuss The Technique Used by The Artist As Described in The Video

The artist uses dichroic glass as his medium, cutting, grinding, and polishing it over 100 times to achieve the desired core design. He then encases the core with optical lead crystal by grinding, slicing, and gluing layers of lead crystal around the core. The finished work is further polished and ground to the desired shape. Knowing he is limited to straight lines with the glass, he incorporates the Fibonacci ratio to organize the lines in a natural-looking way for his glass sculptures. It takes 8-18 weeks to complete each artwork, demonstrating his mastery of glass sculpting techniques.

Discuss the technique used by the artist as described in the video.

The process of his glass sculpting usually starts at the core using a dichroic
glass as his medium. He cuts, grinds and polishes the dichroic glass a hundred times
and maybe more until he achieved the core design he aims for. The finished core
design will be encased with optical lead crystal through grinding and slicing this lead
crystal and inserting his core output between them, pausing to glue them before
repeating the same process. After a careful work of combining lead crystal and dichroic
glass, he would also grinds and polishes the lead crystal to his desired shape and look.

His work focuses mainly on his core output (though encasing it with lead crystal
also takes an ample of time and effort) as this gives the reflective index of spectra into
his work. Knowing that his core output uses mostly of straight lines, he incorporates the
idea of Fibonacci ratio so that he could organize and best use of straight lines in the
advantage of his artwork. Knowing that he has only an option of straight lines, he needs
to make his artwork more natural-looking and this can be achievable with the help of
Fibonacci ratio as this was known to be used by all good artist.

What can you say about the technique used by the artist?

He uses the science and art behind the glass to create a new kind of
masterpiece. His idea of incorporating the golden ratio (Fibonacci ratio) knowing his
works are limited to straight lines is a great challenge in his artistic capability. But then,
he manages to create lines that are geometrically and perfectly organize that the colors
reflected creates an artistic visuals in the eye of his audience/viewer. Moreover, only
few can do such perfect things as glass are critically shaped, molded and polished to
form such kind of sculptures. In his documentary, he said that around 8-18 of weeks is
needed to finish an artwork means that there should be a great mastery of the
techniques (in making the sculpture) to create one’s kind of sculpture.
