    MEDICINE IN COLOMBIA

    Professional profile

    The Medical Graduate is a professional of broad scientific and humanistic culture of inter and transdisciplinary, honest,
    respectful and autonomous. He is a person who, through his professional and research capacities, permanently seeks
    excellence, is committed to patients, colleagues, students and society. Consequently, it provides an example of self-care
    for the achievement of good health and optimal behavior.

    As a Physician, his practice is based on the inductive principles of Science, in such a way that the approach to the patient
    and society reflects a deep and integrated knowledge of the ethical, biological, clinical, psychological, scientific, cultural
    and social principles of the Medicine.

    Action field

    The field of action of medicine is derived in three main areas

    Healthcare área:

    Clinical attention to patients with multiple pathologies. These patients can be treated more efficiently in the field of internal
    medicine more than the multiplicity of care by different specialists, which avoids the repetition of explorations, drug
    interactions, cost containment, etc.

    Attention to the most prevalent processes in the hospital environment. The acquired training allows to perform the role of
    hospitalist doctor to attend the majority of hospitalized patients in the medical area, both as a trainer or coordinator of
    other specialists and professionals.

    Teaching área:

    The integral training of the internist requires the acquisition of knowledge that enables him to develop teaching tasks. The
    learning of how to teach others the contents of their specialty is based precisely on their clinical procedure and be
    prepared to collaborate in the global training of undergraduate students or even their peers and other health
    professionals, also promoting ethical and ethical aspects .
