TO THE FINAL EXAMS!

DAY 252
Issue 2

Dear Y11s , What a fantastic start you have had. We have been very impressed with the
mature and focused attitude that so many of you have shown at the start of this all im-
portant year.

In this edition, we would like to talk to you about breakfast. This may not immediately
seem a very important subject when discussing your progress and attainment in school
but in fact it is a essential ingredient for your success this year. Did you know that if
you do not eat breakfast in the morning, by 11 o‘clock your brain and reflexes are the
same as a seventy year old? Your body will slow itself down because it has not had the en-
ergy it needs to work properly so you will not be able to concentrate as well in your les-
sons. Not having breakfast is a major factor in pupils‘ underachievement in school.
Breakfast is an essential part of the learning process.

What do we mean by breakfast? Well it is not a fizzy drink or a packet of crisps on the
way to school. No, it is yogurt, toast, cereal (as long as it doesn‘t turn the milk choco-
latey). Sugary foods or those that contain a lot of caffeine actually make it harder to
concentrate in lessons. When you are in school, we want you to be getting the maximum
benefit out of all of your lessons and to do that your brain and body need to be function-
ing properly. So make sure you eat appropriately in the morning.

This week‘s role models

are…..

Fatheha Aktar
Danny Booth
Kyle Barlow
Alyson Lees
