Timing: Begin pre-launch activities 3 – 6 months prior to launch date for less expensive investments, or for more
accepted devices. For devices with a price point close to or above $250,000.00, initiate pre-launch activities at least 18
months prior to launch date to allow customers time to plan the purchase into their budget cycle, or seek grant funding if
necessary.

Pre-launch Phase (initial planning)


Identify product (confirm purpose/vocabulary to be used with product development team)
Identify targeted launch date
Initiate processes for regulatory acceptance if applicable
Confirm key objectives
Confirm target market (decision makers/influencers)
Match product to target market influencers
Identify primary and secondary (media) influencers
Establish marketing plan (identify methods to spread launch information to influencers)
Map influencers to marketing plan
Coordinate timeline with project development team
Solicit pre-launch press coverage
Identify how your product differs from the competition
Identify documentation required to support new product
Begin documentation development
Establish sales training requirements
Identify how a potential user purchases your product
Confirm acceptance of all applicable regulatory requirements
