pieces of trashes of papers under your chairs.

How are you feeling today?

(student’s answer may vary)
Attendance
Do we have any absentees today?
None ma’am!
I am glad to hear that.

Recall
Before we proceed to our lesson for today, let
us have a short recap of the topic we have Ma’am I learned how that friends could always
discussed last meeting and tell me what have be our family as well and that we can have a
you learned from that topic? family to rely on wherever we are.

Excellent! Do you have any questions about it?

Very good!
None ma’am!

B. Motivation
Before we move along for our today’s topic, let
us first have a short and fun activity.

I will group you into two, then I will show you Yes, ma’am.
different sentences with gaps within
themselves. Now, what you have to do is to fill
in those blanks with the proper words from the
choices provided below each sentence. The
first group who raised their hands and can
provide the right answer will get two points.
However, if the answer is wrong, they will get
no point. On the other hand, the other group
can also provide their answer after hearing the
answer of the group who raised their hands
first. If the first group’s answer is wrong and
the second group’s answer is correct, then the
second group will get one point.

Alright! Let us start the game then.

Very good!

After playing the game, what have you ( students find a pair and discuss what traits
observed or noticed from those words that was and personalities they share with each other )
used to fill in those gaps?

Perfect! But, do you ever think class that our

friends could be our real family?
Yes ma’am.
Let us see if that really is possible.

Yes ma’am.

( Ralph’s answers may vary ) Ma’am, we

consider them as family as well because we
almost share the same personalities.

( students’ answer may vary )

C. Lesson Proper
Last time, I told you to read the the text Yes ma’am.
provided from pages 22-23 of your book,
right?

Now, to find out if you really did your

assignment, let us discuss what this text all
about is.

Who can tell me what is this text all about?

Yes Third? ( Third’s answer may vary ) Ma’am the text is

all about the possibility of our friends
becoming our fourth cousin.

Exactly! The text focuses on the idea that our

friends could be our family as well.

And according to the text, where did this idea

come from?

Yes Faith? ( Faith’s answer may vary ) Ma’am, according

to the text the idea of our friend having the
possibility as our fourth cousin came from the
Framingham Heart study in the northeastern
US state of Massachusetts.

Wonderful! There was this research conducted

by scientist and with that, they come up with
the idea that there was a high possibility that
our friends are genetically related to us. And
how did they come up with that kind of idea
based on the text?

Yes Blan? ( Blan’s answer may vary ) Ma’am, according

to the text, scientist gather information and
found out that there was a significant number
of percentages that could prove the genetic
relation of our friends to us.

Fantastic! And from those gathered

information by the researchers, what did they
concluded?

Yes Charles? ( Charles’ answer may vary ) Ma’am, they

concluded that friends are really genetically
related to us, because the gathered results from
the studies shows that genetic relation of
friends to us is as high as the relation of our
genes to our ancestors.

Amazing! Now, after discussing the whole text,

do you think it is really possible that our
friends could be our third cousin?

Yes Joy? ( Joy’s answer may vary )

To see if you deeply understand the text, let us

have some activity.

D. Application
For our activity, the class will be divided in
two four. Using the assignments that I provided
last time from page 18 on your book, and with
your answer with the previous activity we did,
come up with a discussion if whether you agree
or disagree with the idea propose by the given
text.

Each group will be provided 5 minutes to

discuss and present their finished work.
Presentation could be on different form and
will be graded according to these following
criteria:

Creativity – 10%
Cooperation – 5%
Content – 10%

You may now start. ( students’ starts to discuss and present )
