Special characters
The other challenge in Yoruba Language was that there
were many similar words that needs to be differentiated
from one another.
ère - play
erē - beans
erè – statue
ere – profit
Transcript removed the dots below these mvs for one main
reason – to put an end to the chaotic and archaic nature
they created in our books. However, removing these dots
will confuse them (Ẹ & Ọ) with normal vowels (E & O).
In order to walk away from this dilemma, we use a method
called feminishation or the feminine code.
Handle Code
Ẹgberrin, hegberrin (since we cannot double gb, the h at
the beginning of two shows how the next e is to be
pronounced).
Ọgborn, hogborn (the h at the beginning also shows how
the next o is to be pronounced.)
The use of the Alien code will be explained at a latter
chapter.
Code 2: Terminal Codes
á à ā é è ē ẹ / e̩ ẹ́ / é̩ ẹ̀ / è̩ ẹ̄ / ē̩
Lets start with vowel e for example. This vowel can have
three values -
è = es - upper accent
é = er - lower accent
e = el - middle accent
è = es = es = upper accent
é = er = er = lower accent
e = el = el = middle accent
Wur, to
swell
Wus, to
like.
Examples
By running this nifty program again on the verb Jẹ, we
will see how words are derived from verbs and how
termination helps to separate the inseparable.
Code 3: Blintermination
One major problem occur when we have to separate
masculine from feminine vowel endphabets (alphabets at
the end of words). Since terminal codes are used to
separate words with masculine vowel endphabets,
separating words with feminine vowel endphabets will
require a different path. If we apply the same rule to all
vowel endphabets we won’t know which is masculine or
feminine, as in the texts below:
de – to come
de– to bind
dẹ – to ripen
dẹ – to hunt
de – to come - der
de – to bind - des
dẹ – to ripen - des
dẹ – to hunt - der

The texts retained their original letters s,u, and n, but are
differentiated from each other by a silent differential,
surn has the romeo somewhere in the middle just before
the n, while sunt has the tango as terminator.
Differentials are completely silent, not to be heard, but as
a guide to their meaning.
In theory, differential codes are inherited from terminal
codes ie the sierra, romeo and liberal codes. However, in
practice, four more differentials are in play to represent
all the overlapping accents in Yoruba language - tango
code, t, whisky code, w and God’s help code, gh
Although Bishop Crowther professed three different
accents, there are seven overlapping accents. Below, we
see a wordgroup manifesting in six accents.

Code 8: Particles
There are seven particles used daily in our sentences. The
first of these is - in.
1. in: used as present continuous, in is not treated as a
separate word in transcript but made contiguous with its
adjoining word as below.
ingbati - when
ingbanaan – then
ingbaur – is that right
inbel – to be, or exist
3. as and al
as is the contraction of the word arwas (us).
as laut – we went, (arwas laut)
it can also be infinitied for future tense as below
as’ laut – arwas yiough laut (we shall go)
al is the negative for as. Statement below shows how it
used for present and future tense
al’ laut – arwas kous nin laut (we shall not
go)
mar and mal: these two values can express positive and
negative values in our everyday connotation. The mar is
reserved for the contraction of emi as or emi yiough, ie
mar as.
mar as laut – go (positive) can be written together
as maas laut
mal laut – do not go (negative)
ough mal sheit ough – it’s a pity (negative)
ough mar sheit ough – thank you very much
(positive)
Heterofusion
Heterofusion makes it possible to join words together in a
disjointed form. We are able to join three or more words
together in a way that makes the oral speech flow for the
special literary effect. Consider the texts below:
idurough gbas ikoko, nin idurough gbas idder
idurough gba’koko, n’idurough gba’dder

Now, this looks a bit clunky, but lets make the connection
and see why these figures are so important and why we
should not overlook them.
But first lets count from 20 to 99 the transnumeric way to
see thewhole picture.
20, ogun

83, augorrin eetta
88, augorrin eejjaus
We have seen how important the infinities are in
simplifying the numbering system. One major advantage of
this system is that it follows an order we can remember.
We don’t have to memorize it; it is there with us as long as
we can count from one to ten. Let us also count from 100
to 120 and make a connection with the derivatives
discussed earlier.
100, augorrun
101, augorrun ookon
102 augorrun eeji
109 augorrun eessont

The dates above showed the year the South and North of
Nigeria were amalgamated was 1914. In Transnumeric
this is Essonla Errinla. Nigeria’s year of independence is
also translated as Essonla Augotta (1960). 2013 (Ogun
