a)Internet :-A global interconnection of computers around the world is known as the Internet
.The Internet is known as Network of Networks . Communication over the Internet is
governed by a set of rules known as protocols. The commonly used protocol for data transfer
over the Internet are TCP/IP and FTP.
b)LAN:-LAN is used in an office building or an educational campus. Ethernet cables and
WIFI are used to set up this kind of network. It’s range is upto 10km.Number of systems
connected range from 2 to 1000. LAN provides a useful of sharing the resources between end
users. The resources such as printers, scanners,, file servers and Internet are easily sharable
among computers.
c)Instant Messaging:-Instant messaging is a real time communication with the user at the
other end. Most Instant Messengers use Client-Server model where messages from a user are
first send to the server and then forwarded to the intended recipient. One of the popular IM
was ICQ from Mirabilis which was launched in 1996. In 1998 it was taken over by AOL
making it the leader in IM. Since IM was faster than e-mail, e-mail providers started their
own IM applications.
d)Blog:-A blog is a combination of 2 words Web Log. A blog is a frequently updated
,online ,personal journal or diary where a person can log information related to his interests
or activities ,express his ideas or opinions share his knowledge through writing articles on
specific topic.
e)P2P Architecture:-Peer means equal and therefore in a P2P network each computer or node
are equal to other computers in terms of the resources that it can access and share. All
computer in this type of network act as both the supplier and consumer of resources. It treats
all devices as having equal capabilities.

3) Explain any three types of view available in Spread sheet.


Ans:- Normal View: The default view of the spreadsheet application is the Normal. It’s a
collection of cells arranged in the work area.

Page Layout: You can select the Page Layout view in order to quickly fine tune a worksheet
that contains many charts or huge amounts of data and achieve professional looking results.

Page Break Preview: This option is similar to the Page Layout option except you can set the
area that is to be set as a page after inserting page break.

Custom Views: If you would like to view selected areas of a document , you can use the
custom view option. For example, if you would like to point out certain row and column, you
can add that to the Custom view.

Full Screen: Selecting this option makes the workbook cover the entire screen. All tabs are
hidden from view. To get back the tabs, click on File> Restore.

4) Rohan’s father told him that they need to attach a modem for internet
connection on their computer. Explain the meaning and function of modem to
Rohan.
Ans:-Modem:-Modem stands Modulator Demodulator . A modem is a hardware device that
allows a computer to send and receive data over a telephone line or cable or satellite
connection. In the case of transmission over an analogue telephone line, which was once the
most popular way to access the Internet, the modem converts data between analogue and
digital formats in real time for two way network connection. Nowadays digital modems are
much faster and are often built in computers, eliminating the need for having more hardware.

5) What is an advantage of using document template? Write steps to use a document


template.
Ans:- Document Templates have several advantages such as :-
 Saves time and money
 Improves speed
 Reduction in errors
 Consistency and Conscience

Steps of selecting a document template in MS. word are as follows:-

 Open Microsoft word. Double-click the Word icon, which resembles a white "W" on a
dark-blue background.

 Search for a template. Scroll through the Microsoft Word home page to find a
template you like, or type word into the search bar at the top of the page to search for
matching templates. For example, if you wanted to find budget-related templates, you
would type "budget" into the search bar. You must be connected to the Internet in
order to search for templates.

 Select a template. Click a template that you want to use. This will open it in a window
where you can take a closer look at the template.

 Click Create. It's to the right of the template preview. Doing so opens the template in a
new Word document.
 Edit the template. Most templates have sample text; you can replace this text by
deleting it and typing in your own. You can also edit most templates' formatting (e.g.,
font, colour, and text size) without ruining the template itself.

 Save your document. Click File in the upper-left side of the page, click Save As,
double-click a save location, enter your document's name, and click Save. You can re-
open this document by going to the folder where you saved it and double-clicking it.

6)What are Clip Arts? Differentiate between Linking and Embedding an object.
Ans:-Clip Arts are simple pictures and symbols made available for computer users to
add to their documents.
Differences between Linking and Embedding an object are:-
When the files are linked, then a change in the linked file gets updated in the
destination file. In the case of embedding, changes in the embedded file do not
propagate to the destination file. You need to manually make the changes in the
destination file by double-clicking the embedded file.

7) Write the data given below using the Spreadsheet Software. Name the sheet1 tab
as Data

a. Title Column should be left align, year, Genre sales unit rental unit should be centre
align.

b. The row height should be 18.5

c. Sort the whole data in the ascending order of unit sales.
