Reflective Essay

Technology made our life easier, more fun, accessible and functional. It gives the
ability to find business ideas, brows news and for educational purposes. It is a powerful
contributor to learning if it is used to deepen student’s engagement in meaningful and
intellectually authentic curriculum that we have today. We use it in everyday living to
communicate even from a distance. It has its power to transfer information and messages
throughout the world. Majority of our homes right now have computers than in the past,
typically speaking we are evolving because of technology. As it plays a vital role in the society
it also has its disadvantages depending on how we use it. Especially now that technology is
already part of our education where in students are now resourceful enough to get ideas from
the internet. It also causes students to be more creative in making their outputs, as they could
expose and engage to the world of Microsoft’s, PowerPoint’s and Excel.

Nowadays, in a classroom setting there should be a presence of technological tools and


materials to make the learning more effective and conducive. Educational technology has
become a great tool for learning because it is essential and make a huge impact on students to
learn. We can get any ideas from internet using our phones and laptops instead of spending
our time at the library. Yet talent does not guarantee the quality of education. According to
Joseph Scott, 50 percent of technology makes the classroom more vibrant and fun. However,
using technology inside the room met its disapproval because it may also bring chaos to the
classroom. Also, valuable time is often wasted on technical troubles. Due to the large use of
technology in the world we tend to be independent to it, and make a crime called plagiarism
that is prevalent today. Moreover, students uses smartphones during classes and cheat to the
exams which is really happening. Messages and videos from the phone would lead to
distractions that get their attention from the discussion the same to teachers. The more the
students engaged in technology the less they perform academically.

In my case I have experience using Television during my reporting and what I have
observe is that it makes my report more attractive because of the different designs and
presentations so my classmates would not be bored while listening. But I also experience
being embarrassed because of the technological trouble that consume our time allotted to the
reporting.

Teachers are the facilitator inside the room; they control everything inside especially
the tools that are needed for learning. The use of technology in class means that technology
can be integrated into everyday learning and lesson plans, opening new method of learning.
Teachers use technology inside the room to teach us how to operate the tools, the lessons are
more creative that gets our attention to the lesson so we are always alive and participative.
Technology has its negative and positive effects to all of us, since we are living in the
era where people are connected and consumed by different gadgets. It’s up to us on how we
use the technology, the future is in our hands. We have to control our feelings and emotions
as we use the technology. Let’s bear in our mind that the power is in our hands, don’t let
technology make us their slave.
