Process Calculation: CRU Revamp Project Heavy Naphtha Splitter Btms Pumps (6104J/JA)

This document provides a pump sizing calculation for pumps 6104J/JA in the SRC CRU Revamp Project. The pumps transfer heavy naphtha from unit 6101E to storage and a merox feed surge drum. Key details include: - Design flow rate is 158.62 m3/hr - Operating pressures of 6 kg/cm2g to storage and 7.6 kg/cm2g to merox feed are considered - NPSH, head, and power requirements are calculated - The pumps require impeller and motor upsizing compared to the previous specifications to handle the increased flow rate and head

Description of Calc. Heavy Naphtha Splitter Btms pumps (6104J/JA)
1
2 OBJECTIVE
3
4 To complete pump sizing for 6104-J/JA in order to check and update the pump data sheet
5
6 Pump 6104J/JA is transferring from 6101 E to Storage (BL pressure 6kg/cm2g from calcs. and 6.2kg/cm2g from MCP case FCV-6111 data back calculation)
7 and Merox Feed surge drum (BL pressure 7.6 kg/cm2g from calcs)
8
9 BASIS
10 1. Normal Flow rate 144.3 m3/hr taken from Study report Naphtha splitter unit (Client no S-CRU- 61-1220-003)
11 2. Design Flow is 1.1 x Normal flow Considering Design allowance
12 3. Hydraulics are based on Design flow rate i.e. 158.62 m3/hr
13 4. Vapor pressure is calculated based on HYSYS properties
14 5. FE-6111 pressure drop estimated as 0.35 kg/cm2 and FE-6401 pressure drop is assumed as 0.35 kg/cm2
15 6. 6101 CA/CB Exchanger Pressure drop Values used as 1.5 kg/cm2 ( pressure drop based on 1.2x HTRI rating.).
16 7. Naphtha splitter operating pressure is taken form HYSYS
17 8. Naphtha splitter bottom TL Elevation considered as 5500 mm from GA
18 9. Storage destination height considered as 6000 mm considering pipe rack.
19 10. Naphtha column of SG 0.7 is considered for tank height
20 11. Properties taken from HSYYS
21 12. 6107 CA/CB exchanger allowable pressure drop values based on datasheet as 1.0 kg/cm2
22 13. FCV-6111 available pressure drop is only 0.75 kg/cm2
23 14. MEROX unit hydraulics is performed based on ISO received. Operating pressure is taken as 1.1 kg/cm2g. Flow considered 28 m3/hr.
24 15. Tie-in TP11-327 is assumed same as 11-217 as the latter is missing in MCP tie-ins. Remaining length is taken as 1000 m and 100 elbows
25 based on plot plan. 10% margin taken only on length from tie-in point to storage tank. Pressure drop validated based on MCP CV data.
26 16. 6101 E is considered as main source of flow, simultaneous flow from other units(mainly CDU -2) is considered as 9300 bbl/d (value from SRC).
27 This is based on refinery wide naphtha production of 60 MBSD and prorated based on CDU-2 capacity.
28
29
30
31 ASSUMPTIONS
32 1. Length is estimated based on current layout and isos
33
34 2. 6101-E foundation = 0.150 m,TL elevation = 5.65 m. B.L.
35 pump foundation: 0.25 m 4.7 m 6
36 pump center line: 0.6 m (from GA)
37 Hence the static head (TL - Pump Centerline) =
38 Assuming tank is as per API 650. Max operating pressure 2.5 PSIg i.e. 0.18 barg
39 As per API 620 max. operating pressure 1 barg. API650 is assumed and basis confirmed with SRC

Project CRU Revamp Project
Description of Calc. Heavy Naphtha Splitter Btms pumps (6104J/JA)
1
2 OBJECTIVE
3
4 Pump evaluated with revised assumptions to see if without changing impeller and reducing pressure drop in control valve
5 normal operating conditions could be met
6 Below assumptions are changed from the base case sizing sheet
7
8 ASSUMPTIONS CHANGED TO DECREASE MARGIN
9 1. Normal Flow rate 144.3 m3/hr taken form Study report Naphtha splitter unit (Client no S-CRU- 61-1220-003)
10 Hydraulic based on normal flow
11 2. 6107 CA/B pressure drop has been changed from 1 bar (Max allowable based on datasheet) to 0.4 bar
12 Pressure drop on process side evaluated based on HTRI is 0.2 bar, so reduced pressure drop value as per above
13 Once 6107-CA/CB option is finalized this can be revisited after getting finalized values from vendor
14
15
16
17
18
19
20
21 RESULTS
22 Controllability of the loop decreases as the pressure drop available for control purpose decreases in the loop
23 There is no margin on flow in this case and CV pressure drop is too low.
24 Based on this it is concluded to upsize impeller to get some margin due to assumptions made for system downstream NSU B.L
25 assumptions: w.r.t flow, length, storage tank pressure, FT pressure drops are listed on first coverpage
26
27
28
29
30
31 B.L. is taken as control valve downstream and line loss is prorated based on flow
32 This is also checked based on pro-rated pressure drop of MCP case. Existing line loss is 3.2 bar , prorated pressure drop for increased
33 flow 3.85 bar
34
35 MCP
36 Initial rated flow 79498 kg/hr Max flow in CV datasheet
37 Based on CV datasheet of FCV-6111 B.L. pressure is 4.86 kgf/cm2g (7.18 - 2.32)
38 4.76 barg
39 Line loss from tank to CV 3.20 bar (4.76-1.56) 3.20
40 estimated BL line loss due to increase in flow3.85 bar 4.65
41 New B.L. 5.41 bar (3.85+1.56) 6.21
