The system unit, also known as the tower or chassis, is the main part of a desktop computer. It houses the central processing unit (CPU) and other important internal components. The CPU is the "brain and heart" of the computer, processing instructions and data. Federico Faggin led the design of one of the earliest CPU's released by Intel in 1971. The system unit has external parts like the tower that houses the internal motherboard, CPU, RAM and other components. It is also called the primary device that performs operations and produces results.
