RED CROSS YOUTH

About RCY
• It is the youth volunteering program of the Philippine Red Cross

• It seeks to inculcate humanitarian values, instill the practice of healthy lifestyle, enhance
youth leadership through service delivery, and advocate national and/or international
friendship to the youth

• Recognized as one of the co-curricular clubs in the Schools by the Department of Education
through DepEd Order No. 38 Series of 2005.

• Signed a Memorandum of Agreement to the following agencies:

a. Department of Education (DepEd)

b. Commission on Higher Education (CHED)

c. Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities (PACU)

d. Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA)

e. Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)

Objective
To educate and empower the children and youth in the spirit of Red Cross through relevant training
and effective leadership, and to provide opportunities for directing and harnessing their energy and
idealism into worthwhile humanitarian activities.

Council Accreditation Process

1. Accomplished council accreditation form

Key Steps for Accreditation


A. Council Level
• Accomplish Council Accreditation Form issued by PRC Tarlac Chapter

• Secure signature of school head or authorized school personnel

• Fill-up database of members with necessary information. Template will be provided by


the chapter

• Once complete, submit documents to chapter for processing

B. Chapter Level
• Upon receipt of documents, chapter verifies accomplished accreditation form

• Database of councils to be consolidated on RCY NHQ prescribed template

• Chapter stamps the received documents as approved, if minimum requirement has


been met

• Chapter submits documents to NHQ for endorsement

C. NHQ Level
• RCY NHQ verifies submitted documents upon receipt from chapter

• Issues Certificate of Accreditation

• Transmits certificates with a letter addressed to the Chapter Administrator

BASIC COMPOSITION OF A COUNCIL


• Minimum of 50 bonafide members enrolled in PRC’s Membership and Accident Assistance
Benefits

• Must be trained under PRC RCY Leadership Development Program

• Must have a set of duly elected officers

• Must have a teacher-adviser for every 43 members who underwent Council Management
Training from PRC.
