HYPOTHESIS

Our study hypothesized that there is a common cause and effect of Depression and

Anxiety. We think there several cause of Depression and Anxiety in teenager. A normal

teen’s lifestyle centers around their social life. The most important thing to a teenager is

his or her friends. To be “COOL” or in “CLIQUE” is what every teen wants. However,

popularity comes with many unpleasant aspect like peer pressure, bullying, drug abuse,

etc. A friendless, abused or lonely teenager is the type with nothing to lose. There are

usually the teens who into Depression. Many do not even know they have it because they

deny there is anything wrong with them and refuse to be examined by psychologist.
INTRODUCTION

Depression and Anxiety disorder are different, but people with Depression often

experience symptoms similar to those of an Anxiety disorder, such as nervousness,

irritability, and problems sleeping and concentrating, but each disorder has its own

cause and its own emotional and behavior symptoms.

Anxiety and Depression can be hard to detect and diagnose in young children but this

problems can start as young as the toddler years.

Anxious or Depression children may appear very shy, tend to avoid social contacts and

with draw from over react to unfamiliar situation. They may exhibit intense sadness,

fears and worries and have problems eating and sleeping.

These problems can lead to low self-confidence, lack of social skills and risk of peer

rejection as they develop.

How we feel usually relates to what’s is going on in our lives. It’s normal to be happy

sometimes, frustrated at other times and disappointment when thing don’t go to plan.

Depression leaves young people feeling down and unable to cope with everyday life.

As well as affecting how someone feels and thinks, it can also effect their physical

health and overall enjoyment of life. There are different types of Depression but they all

share some common symptoms. These symptoms vary in intensity and the impact they

have on someone’s life. Everyone is unique and can experience Depression in different

ways. Some young people feel irritable, while others feel sad and really stressed most

of the time. Some young people become more angry than usual and are restless,
unable to relax or stop thinking about their worries. Young people with Depression may

experience feeling of guilt, worthlessness, frustration, unhappiness, indecisiveness,

disappointment and misery.

Many of the feelings young people have are connected to how they think. So if what

young people are thinking about tends to be negative, their feelings probably will be too.

Young people with Depression can get caught up in this unhelpful cycle.

Our palms start sweating, our heart races and we might feel a bit sick. This kind of

Anxiety is a hard-weird part of our survival instinct and help to tell us there’s something

significant happening. It might be a dangerous situation we need to avoid, or a task we

need to get done quickly, so a bit of Anxiety can useful sometimes.

But for some young people, these intense feeling or fear can become overwhelming and

can happen for no apparent reason. They find that their Anxiety is hard work. Anything

extra becomes further cause for anxiety. Anxiety condition can be crippling to a young

person’s life if they don’t get support they need.


STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM AND OBJECTIVE

The life of teenager seems to change daily, before their teenage years, these

adolescents focused on school, play, and gaining approval form their parents. But now,

those former goals are replaced with a desire for independence, as teenagers work

toward becoming young adults.

However, there are instance in teenage life that problem arises, and other teenager has

difficulties to handle it, that leads to Depression.

Because many are still struggling with it. This paper intends to provide explanations

about Depression and Anxiety.
