HALF KNOT

Place the right hand (brown) cord over the two core (yellow) cords.
Place it under the left hand (orange) cord.

Bring the left hand (orange) cord under the two core cords and up through
the loop formed by the core cord and the brown cord.

Tighten by pulling gently on the knotting cords.

Repeating this knot over and over will create a spiral / twist.

SQUARE KNOT

Start by making a half knot as above.

The second half of the square knot is the reverse of the first half.

Bring the orange cord (which is now on the right hand side) behind the
two core cords.
Bring it over the left hand (brown) cord.

Place the brown cord into the right hand loop by going over the core cords
and under the orange cord.

Tighten by gently pulling on the knotting cord.

BASIC ALTERNATING SQUARE KNOTS

This pattern of knots in the right hand picture
is created by making square knots and alternating
which cords are your knotting cords
and which are your core cords. (Inner cords)

Make a square knot, then bring the inner (core) cords

(from behind the knotting cords) around the outside
and use them as knotting cords.

I have chosen to make two square knots before

I switch the cords. However, you can make
one, two, three or more or you can vary the number
of knots before you switch cords.

OVERHAND LOOP CLASP (STARTING THE PIECE)

Step 1: Take your cords and fold them in half. Tie an overhand knot (OH) that just
fits over your bead, button, or knot closure.

Step 2: Make your piece of jewelry using the loose ends of the cords and finish with
your bead, button, or knot closure. (Tie a basic knot once your done and loop it over
the knot, make sure the knot is big enough)

FINISHING CORD WITH ADJUSTABLE KNOTS

Overlap the cord ends 4" as shown.

Pinch one side of the overlap so there is about 1" of

Tie an overhand knot with that end piece around the

adjacent portion of the cord.

Repeat with the other cord end. Slide knots back and
forth to vary necklace length, then adjust knot
tension.
