Lesson 1 : Take Action

Activity 1 - Traditional or Progressive: What is your view of

Curriculum?

1.) What is your own definition of a curriculum?

Answer:
A Curriculum for me is a collection of subject or course
that is taught and learned through collaborative work
and experiences by the students facilitated by their
teachers in a specific school or university.

2.) Do you have a traditional view of a curriculum, a

progressive view or both? Explain your answer based on
your definition.
Answer:
In my personal experience working in a traditional
school set up in more than 8 years, I can say that
learning is very rigid where knowledge is found but is
used as a means to accomplish intended target. Whereas
the Progressive side is more of total learning exp erience
of an individual. This is why learning is fun, exciting
and purposeful. This is the base form of my present
work at PINK PLAYHOUSE where integrated
knowledge is acquired through play or experiences.
Critical thinking and higher order of learning are
practiced. Every learner’s opinion and perspective is
highly encourage in everyday discussion.
