Writing Task 2 (Main)
It is argued by some that the most crucial subject to learn by students is history, while others claim that science and technology are more imperative to learn than such a subject. Although history lead the students to foster their patriotism, I believe that science and technology will sharpen their better future career. On the one hand, by learning the history, pupils can be aware about the endeavour of their country’s development. It is because through acquiring the knowledge of history field, students can commemorate the hardship of their ancestors, in order to maintain the fruitfulness of their country. In Indonesia, for example, an annual ceremony on August 17th is held to highlight citizen’s attention, regardless the school children, aiming to increase the awareness about historical independence of their nation. However, such kind of study can be gained through some sources, beside at school. On the other hand, deepening understanding of science and technology is perceived as right road to brighten students’ career. It is mainly because majority people’s ease in this millennial era rely on those studies, hence having sufficient training and broad experience related subjects is heavily demanding in many sectors. An article of New York Times in 2015 published that the ten richest people in the world are those who are seeking in science and technological field such as Microsoft, Facebook, etc. Therefore, it is truly agreed that bolding science and technology subjects at school is essential to pursue a better career. In conclusion, even though history can be heightening the students’ awareness about their nation, preparing a better future is more related to science and technology.
Writing Task 1 (Optional)
A snapshot of four distinguished modes of transportation in UK from 1974 to 2002 regarding the mass of good is presented in the line graph. Overall, transportation by road and water were the two main preferences. In any case, some changes were seen during the observed period. Initially, goods transported by road was the most common method. Its rate accounted for 70 million tonnes, and was by far the highest. Apparently, the line of water and rail showed a virtual usage for transporting goods, at about 40 million tonnes. However, the former transport widened out the gap to over 60 million tonnes eventually while a less marked growth was seen in the latter one. This trend was followed by pipeline, the smallest usage of goods transport within eight years, contributed to just below 10 million tonnes in 1974. In the timeline, road modes fluctuated until reaching virtually 100 million tonnes, with quantities rising and falling twice during the time period. The same change were seen in goods transportation by rail and water, even though the aforementioned mode is more frequent to decrease. Those rate is in stark to pipeline transport, having a stable increase during the surveyed period.
