Alyssa and her two friends, Diana are the schools best students yet; that is why Elodie and her gang,
Marlene and Paulette, try to tease and bring them down anyway possible.

Scene 1- School Cafeteria

Alyssa and her friend Diana and Rose are in the cafeteria eating and talking about Alyssa’s new status in
school.

Alyssa: I just cant believe I got the 1st price for the beauty pageant. I mean I didn’t even prepare for it.

Diana: well look at it this way, you’re popular!! I mean every guy in school practically knows your name
and wants to call you on a first name basis.

Rose: yeah its like a fairy tale or something…(smiles)

Alyssa: awww cmon guys..ill still be your friend. Just because I won the pageant doesn’t mean im a
whole new person. You’ll still be my best friends.

Diana and Rose hug Alyssa.

Alyssa: anyway theres this party in the weekend and I was invited. I was hoping you guys would come
with me

Diana: (looks at Rose) umm..what do you think Rose? I mean the party will probably for popular people
only and you know…we’re not popular…

Alyssa: aww cmon guys…please?? Ill be there and I need you guys to be with me…

Rose: (at Diana) Diana I think we need to be there for Alyssa…I mean shes right…winning the beauty
pageant doesn’t change the fact that we’re still best friends…

Diana: oh… alright …but there better be good food!!

Diana: guys heads up, the three queens are approaching

The three newcomers walked up to them haughtily.

Elodie: hello Alyssa. I was just wondering what you were doing with these (indicates Diana and Rose)
two nobodys. I was hoping you would come join us at our table. Maybe we could talk about that
hairstyle you used at the pageant. It was just so breathtaking. (smiles)

Paulette: yeah Alyssa, we could help you out with some of your financial problems too…I mean we
know your family isn’t really that capable of providing your extra needs right…

Diana: (looks at the three disgustingly) Alyssa are you really listening to what these three are saying??
What a load of crap.

Rose: c’mon Alyssa theres no point in listening to these three…

Marlene: you know we’re talking sense Alyssa…if you stick with these three…you’d be a nobody. But if
you stick with us, you’d go higher and higher…

Diana, Rose and Alyssa stand up. They are about to leave and Alyssa pauses for a moment.

Alyssa: (to Elodie) look if you want me on your “gang” you gotta stop picking on my friends and for the
record, my brain is not made up of money and fame. What I value is true friendship and not just
pieces of paper and popularity.

Elodie: ( smiles slyly) well, choose carefully Alyssa. Its not an offer to be refused lightly…the offer still
stands. C’mon girls

Elodie, marlene and Paulette walk away. Alyssa, Diana and Rose are left standing. Alyssa ponders about
the proposal of Elodie.

Diana: c’mon guys…lets get out of here. Jerks.

The three friends go to Alyssa’s house to chill out. Rose suggests they watch a new movie in cinema.

Rose: Hey guys! Why don’t we watch Red??its like really good and I’ve head that its got a lot of actions.

Diana: Yeah! That should be fun!! C’mon Alyssa lets go

Alyssa: I don’t know…my mom’s banned me from going to the cinema..she says its bad influences

Diana: aw c’mon Alyssa…you know its not that bad…its just the same as watching a movie at your house.
In fact, watching a movie at home is more of a bad influence since you have more options of
what to watch while in the cinema, theres only one movie.

Alyssa: yah, I know…well…ill have to ask mom…and ill argue that with mom…

Rose: you don’t have to let her know that you’re going, you can just come (smiles)

Alyssa: ohh..well…ill try…(smiles) anyway lets just do our homework first before anything else
The three friends do their homework and as night arrives Diana and Rose go home.

Scene 2 – School Grounds

Alyssa is sitting in the bench alone. Rose has gone home and she is just waiting for Diana to finish her
class. Suddenly a boy, Ryan, sits on the other side of the bench.

Ryan: Hey

Alyssa: oh, hey

Ryan: umm…why are you sitting here all alone?

Alyssa: im just waiting for Diana to finish her class

Ryan: right…so do you have any exams tomorrow?

Alyssa: yeah, last exam.physics. im sorry, I don’t even know your name

Ryan: (laughs) well Im Ryan Parker (holds out hand)

Alyssa: (shakes ryans hand with a smile) Alyssa Goodrum..umm..so why did you ask me if I had an exam
tomorrow?

Ryan: well..i was going to ask whether you wanted to go to MOA or something (pause) I mean if youre
not busy or anything.

Alyssa: (smiles a little) ummm maybe…I can make some time…how bout four?

Ryan: (smiles) four…four is good. (pause) so umm…how does it feel to get a perfect score on NCM?

Alyssa: (laughs) well…pretty good…(smiles) studying helps. You should try it

Ryan: (laughs) I was never really the type to study…I rely more on stock knowledge

Alyssa: Don’t think that I don’t know that your so called “stock knowledge” is composed only of DOta,
dota and DOTa.

They both laugh when Diana walks up to them

Diana: hey Alyssa, lets go (looks at ryan) well, whos the new guy?

Alyssa: Oh Diana (nods to ryan) ryan, ryan (nods to Diana) Diana.

Diana: (to ryan) you better be good to Alyssa or youll have to answer to me

Ryan: (smiles) I will not harm or cause any damage or injury to Alyssa at all cost.

Diana: you make sure that--- (Alyssa interrupts her)

Alyssa: Diana, stop (at ryan with a smile) don’t worry about her. Shes being a pain right now. Anyway ill
see you tomorrow
Before Diana can say anything, Alyssa drags her away leaving Ryan.

Ryan: see you

Scene 3 – Elodies house

Elodie is sitting at their dining table eating with her mother. They were talking about Elodies day

Mom: elodie honey, how was your day?

(Pause)

Mom: well I heard you got 98% in the exam. That’s very good..im proud of you (smiles at Elodie)

Elodie: (forces a smile) thanks mom.. hey mom…our capping and pinning is gonna be held this
December, I was hoping you’d be able to come.

MOM: (apologetic smile) sorry honey , I have a business meeting in Australia the whole of December. I
think maybe your dad will be able to make it. (holds elodies hand)

Elodie: (monotonous tone) sure mom…

A few minutes in silence while they eat. Suddenly, Elodies dad arrives home.

Dad: hey honey (kisses mom in the cheek) hey elle (kisses elodie on the cheek) so!! Whats for dinner? Im
starving (sits down)

Elodie: well dad, our capping and pinning is in December and I already asked mom if she could go but
she said she couldn’t so…could you come? (smiles)

Dad: umm( apologetic smile) sorry honey. I have this report that I have to finish. I don’t think ill be able
to come…maybe our maid could.

Elodie becomes silent and her mom and dad picks up on this

Dad: don’t worry honey, me and you mom will make it up to you. We could go to boracay or anywhere
you want this weekend.

Elodie: ok dad…sure

Dinner is done. Elodie is in the living room watching t.v when paulette calls her,

Paulette: Girl!! You gotta come with us this weekend. I heard Johnny and his boys are going as well.
Therell be drinks and shots. Its gonna be fun!!

Elodie: ummm I dnt know…me and my parents have a plan for this weekend…

Paulette: aw!! Cmon elle!! This is once in a lifetime. Just resched or something..

Elodie: oh alright! Ill ask mom to resched it..but it better be fun!!

Paulette: don’t worry..itll be the best night ever…and im gonna bring something real special…
