Tarot cards are playing cards used for self-discovery and understanding situations by depicting images that represent emotions and life experiences. While early decks had more complex artwork that made learning difficult, current decks focus more on symbolism. Tarot cards can help people reflect on situations from new perspectives and better understand themselves and what motivates their own and others' behaviors on a deeper level by connecting insights to their own experiences. They provide a tool to uncover deeper meanings and consider all aspects of a situation rather than making superficial judgments.

• What are tarot cards?

• Tarot cards are basically playing cards used for self discovery, but can be used for other
purposes too. They have images depicted on them to represent situations/emotions/etc,
which can be relatable to everyday things everyone goes through.
• First Decks vs. Current Decks
• I appreciate complex art so my first deck (bottom left) reflects that, but also made learning
more difficult. All the (court) cards, in my first deck, could be put together to create a bigger
picture
§ The tarot decks I buy now are more dependent on symbolism(bottom right),
but I will still buy them if the art really sticks out(bottom left and middle).
§ Something tarot helps a lot with is self understanding, or even helping
people reflect on situations by bringing up things they may not have
considered previously.
§ Tarot cards reflect thinking process
§ I’m someone who likes to understand the deeper meaning in things, tarot cards
help uncover it.

§ Tarot cards make you consider all parts of a bigger situation

§ I’m extremely investigative in the way of figuring out why people do the things
they do, or say the things they did and what deeply rooted problem is actually
causing that in the first place. Tarot is weirdly accurate in the way of figuring out
what actually caused the things that happened, not as in they’re “magic” or
“demonic” (a common misconception weirdly enough), but because they explain
situations and your mind will connect the dots with what you already know.
§ Tarot helps people understand themselves
§ With how much mental health is on the rise (in importance), and how society
seems to view mental illness, tarot potentially could help in a lot of ways. The
information found in tarot are often things people already knew, the info was there
all along, and tarot is the tool to help get it out.
§ Things aren’t always what they seem
§ In differing societies, a lot of the behavior/values/ideas seem strange because at
face value, they’re different and people hate change. Tarot helps you understand
that these things do have meaning, it also helps people stop being such a
cognitive miser about everything.
