III. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Drill
Distribute “show- me- boards”. Show the number wheel. Spin the wheel.
Round the number to the nearest tens when the pointer stops at white part of
the wheel and round the number to the nearest hundreds when it stops on the
shaded part.

2. Review
Answer the following using show- me- boards.

A. If we skip count by 10s

Say: “Sometimes there is no need for us to give the exact number instead we

1. Presentation
Present the problem.
The election count in Barangay Sto. Tomas is almost over. Mrs. Ariolo,
one of the candidates, is leading the election. She got a vote of 2500 and Mr.
Fernandez, her opponent, got 2210 votes. By about how many more votes did Mrs.
Ariolo have than Mr Fernandez?

Say: “Let us use a number line. Label it from 2000 to 3000. Find 2210.

Since it is closer to 2000, round it down.

Ask: Find 2500. Where it is located?

Ask: By how many votes did Mrs. Ariolo win?

Say: Since it is closer to 3000, round it up.
