About the Institution


University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) is one of the premier institutions serving the
society since 1917. The institution is a constituent college of Bangalore University. UVCE was
recognized as one of the leading institutions in Karnataka. A titan among Engineering colleges, the
oldest and most venerated Engineering colleges in Karnataka with its unique mix of the State of the art
education and active industrial collaboration fulfills the dream of a distinguished engineer.

About the Department


The B. E. course in Computer Science Engineering was started in the year 1983 by the Department of
Electronics and Communication Engineering. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering
was established as a separate Department in the year 2004. The Department has well qualified all with
doctoral degrees, experienced and dedicated faculty members. The Department includes both
Computer Science and Engineering and Information Science and Engineering. From the year 2018, the
Department has incorporated the CBCS scheme in its curriculum and offers B. Tech and M. Tech
courses. The Department runs M. Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, Information
Technology, Computer Networking, Web Technologies, Software Engineering and Bio-Informatics.
The Department has more than 30 Ph. D students doing research in various areas of Computer Science
and Engineering.

About the Workshop


Block chain technology is an emerging technology suitable for decentralized and transactional sharing
of data across a large network of untrusted participants. By using this technology one can maintain
continuously-growing list of records called blocks and link them in a distributed manner, potentially
in such a way that these are secured against tampering. Block chain is maintained as distributed
database of records of transactions that are shared among participants. This technology uses
cryptographic algorithms to validate the logged transactions and ensures that no record is duplicated
and also permanent records are updated on each node of the network.

Objectives of the Workshop


Provide overall introduction to Block chain technology and its application in real world organizations.
A hands on workshop for top management of an organization on how Block chain, the technology of
decentralized and transactional sharing of data across a large network of untrusted participants can be
implemented in their organization. Considering the growing importance of Block chain Technology
and its potential in different sectors, this five day workshop is planned and sessions would be
delivered by experts from premier and reputed Institutes and Industry. The focus of the workshop
includes the following (but not limited to):
 Introduction to Block chain technology
 Decentralized applications & Block chain
 Application scenarios in Banking, Finance and Governance
 Hyper ledger Block chain
 Opportunities, Societal impact and Challenges
