Purpose
Audiometers measure and characterize hearing loss
by determining an individual’s hearing threshold (the
lowest audible sound to which the individual will re-
spond 50% of the time) for pure tones and speech and
then comparing that threshold with a standard range
of normal threshold values. These normal audiometric
