SUMMER READING CAMP


April 29, 2019

Reading is indeed a basic yet, a very complex skill each learner must poses. Reading in fact is an integral part of a
lessonno matter what subject it is, everthing includes reading. Yet we cant deny the fact that children nowadays
hardly pick out a book and certainly be drawn in to reading. The availability of technology sometimes hinders
reading, although there do exist soft wares or application that helps enhance reading skills. Improving the
childrens reading abilities poses a challenge to educators amidst the fast changing society we are in today. Tp
help the children find their way back to the love for reading and in order to promote and develop such skill,
Caniangan National High School make sure that our learners have the greatest access to all mediums to develop
their reading skills.

The summer reading camp started last April, 24, 2019 up to April 30, 2019. Different teachers were assigned
everday to facilitate the different activities.

April 29, was scheduled for us. We divided the learners into two groups. Group 1 composed of the lower grades
and group 2 the higher grades. We had Read and Enjoy, where students had plenty and meaningful games that
makes them interested to participate which makes them enjoy and learned. After series of games we let the
students group themselves according to their reading ability. Our activity was Speak and Tell. In which we let
every student to tell a story of themselves, some were so shy that they were not able to say anyting. Second, we
show some pictures and let them say stories about it. With this, we encourage them to speak and later on they
gained some confidence as they talk.

As a whole, the students enjoyed as they actively participated. They have gained knowledge and confidence too.
